I haven't been to any with dogs, but as long as they're well-behaved it could be cute. Just keep in mind any potential guest allergies and realize that a dog might cause disruptions, just like having small children in your wedding Smiley smile.

My dog is an insane, wiggle butt. No way could she be in the wedding.

She's also a talker.... It would actually be kind of funny, now that I think about it.

If she wasn't filled with so much anxiety I might consider it.

My dog was a certified therapy dog, and better behaved than most people I know. Our plan was 100% to have him at our small ceremony, than take him back to the hotel (which is dog friendly) and let him spend the night laying in our hotel bed eating snacks and watching TV while we partied it up at our larger reception.

I wouldn't have bought him to a large ceremony, only because you never know who might be scared of dogs..

My cousin had a backyard wedding (her husband's dad's house) and they had dogs. It was huge property that used to be farm. The dad had three dogs and they spread the word that people were allowed to bring their well-behaved vaccinated dogs with them. All the dogs were kept inside for the ceremony and let out for the reception. The mostly ran around and played with each other but when they noticed there was food (the entire thing was outside) they hustled right over to beg people. A few people looked horrified dogs were running around because it wasn't 'fancy' or they were worried the dogs would get their dresses dirty. I loved it because I have anxiety so being able to pet the dogs calmed me down and allowed me to avoid people if I needed to. The kids loved it as well. I think one of the dogs was with an out of town guest who thought traveling with his dog was fun.

So overall it was great. I think you just need to gauge the reaction of your guests.

My dog is terrified of people so we knew it wouldn't work.

You will need to designate someone as your dog's handler for before and during the ceremony. Personally, that's kind of a shitty job to give a friend or family member who should be just worried about having fun at and enjoying your wedding rather than picking up dog poop and making sure the dog behaves. Also, consider who is going to take the dog home after the ceremony? You will be way too busy to worry about it. I'm all for taking some engagement pictures with your pet, but I think its simpler and kinder to the pets to leave them at home on the wedding day.

Also, please change your avatar to something other than the generic rings. They are associated with spam/trolls, so it will help you get more responses to your posts and it also distinguishes you from other generic avatar users, which makes it easier to read the threads. You don't have to make it a picture of your face if you are concerned about privacy, it can literally be a picture of anything. Here's how: On safari/internet explorer: Settings > Profile and Privacy Settings > Account Image > Change Image > Upload > Update Profile Settings

My dog if they allow him in there will be our ring bearer and everyone that's coming to our wedding loves dogs.

Hi Geralyn, welcome to WW! Make sure to upload a picture for your avatar (instead of the default icons) so that we can get to know you and tell you apart from all the other posters.

It definitely all depends on how well your dogs behave, and if you can find someone to be their "handler" all day! My dog would be awful, and would definitely rip my dress with a whiny paw swipe for attention Smiley smile One wedding I went to was a B&B with large grounds and the whole thing was enclosed. They let their dogs out during cocktail hour to run around and they were so sweet!

I've been to two weddings where assistance dogs were in attendance. Nothing weird about that.

I love dogs and wouldn't mind if they were well behaved. Just be sure to have a back-up plan in case they get overwhelmed.

Dogs are part of our families; if they have the temperament, they should be there. But, like small children, they usually don't have the attention span for the whole event. Most of mine are there only for cocktail hour and then handed off to a dog sitter.

I'm strongly considering having my parent's Labradoodle be our ring bearer. One of my younger cousins will walk him down the aisle. Immediately after one of my brother's friends will taking him back to my parent's house for night. He's well behaved enough for a trip down the aisle, but not to sit through the ceremony.

I would love to have my babies in it but they are excited jumpers. I don't want to have to worry about dirty paws on my dress. Plus I don't think the church allows pets.

We love our pup but he is going to a pet sitter for the whole weekend.

I don't want to worry about him getting lost, not getting enough exercise or bathroom breaks.

The $50 to send him to a sitter on rover is worth the peace of mind to know he is happy!

My dog wasn't well behaved enough to have at the wedding and I wouldn't have wanted anyone to have to keep an eye on him or do it myself.

My bestie had her dog (she hired a dog walker) and we had all three of our hounds in ours. It all depends on your venue, and how well behaved the dog(s) is/are in public.

I'd love to include my dog, but I didn't want someone to have to run her back to my parents house between the ceremony and reception (which are at the same location), as anyone I would trust with that task would need to be around for pictures (plus I don't want someone to have to leave to take care of that anyways). So logistically, it just didn't work, and I quickly dropped the idea.

@annakay511, you made me LOL with "shitty job," because that's exactly what it will be - I would loathe having to pick up dog poo at a wedding.

It really depends on the attitude of the pup, if they are good in crowds, not too barky and not jumpy (I would not enjoy a dog jumping all over me when I'm in a nice dress) then it should be fine and adorable.
