Does this work?!

Susan, on May 8, 2019 at 7:23 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 27
So my dress is vanilla and champagne, so we knew that FH would need to wear an off white or ivory shirt to make sure pictures work....but I don’t like the way the off white and ivory shirts look with his navy suit.

He bought this shirt for our engagement shoot and I fell IN LOVE, does this work for the wedding day???
We don’t have a bridal party, our kids are wearing navy and light pink/blush, and those are our wedding colors too.

This is fun and I like it! Maybe he can get a cream pocket square to match your dress? The other though is for him to get a cream/light yellow shirt to match your dress but keep the tie.

I don't particularly like that tie with the shirt. I think the shirt could work with a different tie, maybe navy. I'm sure it will look nice no matter what!

I really like the tux with the tie or tux with the shirt! I’d do one or the other

While I do think it’s a great shirt, Its more competing pattern than I would want next to a very detailed dress, but it’s a nice color. Would he consider a blush/rose/mauve/wine colored solid shirt ? Something in the same color family as that shirt but a little more subdued ?

I also personally wouldn’t want my husband wearing the same shirt in all our pro photos (engagement and wedding) but that’s just me personally, and easy enough to get a different one if you haven’t done those pics yet, hah

I think the pattern of his shirt gives his outfit a more casual vibe, where, with what I can see, your dress seems much more formal. I think both look nice, but together the "styles/vibes" of the two clash. I'd go with a solid shirt. I'd probably go with a white shirt and a champagne tie with his navy suit for a very classy, formal look. (You can definitely pair a pure white dress shirt with a non-white wedding dress; it will look lovely and very formal.)

You guys don’t have to match at all. You’re both going to look wonderful.

How about maybe a burgundy tie....thinking that the problem here is that pink tie is really a cool color, whereas your dress is calling for something in the warm color family. Burgundy would still blend well with the blush/pinks in your color scheme. ? Just a thought.....

I think darker ties like burgundy, purple, & navy would look great!

His outfit is too busy for me. Either the shirt or the tie needs to be changed. Personally, I would change out the shirt. I think the pattern would be too distracting next to your dress and would be competing for attention.

I personally don’t think bride & groom need to match 🤷🏻‍♀️ I like his outfit because it’s unique & looks good together.

If you want to match & since you say your colors are navy & light pink/blush & your kids will be wearing same colors, then FH should find light pink/blush shirt, keep the tie (I love the tie by the way) & you could have light pink/blush bouquet. Then you’ll all match perfectly & also match your wedding colors!

I think the tie clashes with the shirt, and his shirt and tie doesn’t really look good with your dress. Sorry. Just want to be honest and not just say it looks good because this is a happy occasion. The pictures will last forever and looking good is important. 🙂

I hate to say it but I agree with them. The shirt is great but it has a lot going on that draws attention to it and the tie is not a good match for it so it looks kind of awkward. Sorry Smiley sad. However, if you like this than go for it! It is your wedding and you deserve to have it the way that you want it to be.
