Does this dress need a belt?

Nicole, on July 20, 2019 at 4:11 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 23
I purchased my dress! I love it, but I noticed the line separating the top and bottom could be a little harsh? Would a belt be too much?

I'd love to see it with a belt, but I think it would need to be rather thin so that it doesn't take too much away from the gorgeous chest bit.

I think I would prefer it without a belt so that it doesn’t take away from the area where the lace overlaps the skirt.

I think it would look great with a belt .. but I think it would need to be a thin belt to not distract from the beautiful lace and accentuate your waist. Bet, the dress is beautiful on you!!

I think that line separating the top and bottom is just one of the current styles....so, kind of (part of) the point of the dress. I love it, and don’t think it needs a belt. And it’s gorgeous on you!!!

A thin belt would be pretty and add a nice detail to the dress. But it may need to be sewn to the dress so that it remains in place and doesn’t creep up.

There are times when a seamstress can add some sort of underlay to more see through parts of a dress (cant remember what its called!). That might make the line less harsh but then you dont need a belt that distracts from the details. Just a thought. I personally dont feel it looks harsh and looks gorgeous as is!

Your dress is beautiful! Try it with a belt and see. It may add to it but could take away from it too. You won’t know until you try it! I was given a belt and hated the kind they gave me but bought on on Etsy for $80 less!

This!! I wouldn’t want a belt over the lace overlay.

A thin belt might look lovely and not take away from that delicate lace!

I really like the dress without the belt because of the way the lace comes down over the skirt.

I feel like a belt would take away from the details of the lace. There’s really no clear seam to set the belt on, and I wouldn’t want it to hide that gorgeous detailing.

I'd do a belt. My dress was sorta like yours and I added a belt and felt it looked nicer that way. Gave it a little extra

I don't think it needs a belt but I think the third one would make it look really nice. Give it a bit of sparkle and make the eye move down more naturally.

You look gorgeous! It’s hard to tell without seeing it with the belt, but I think if you did anything it would look super cool with a simple thin sparkly belt (although I’m all about the bling lol). But I don’t think it’s absolutely necessary, it would look perfect either way

I don't think it needs a belt because it has the sweet lace overlay. I actually think a delicate necklace would line up perfectly for the eyelines. If you want a veil a finger tip length one would probably add the dimension to lessen the contrast.
