Does this bridesmaid dress look "skimpy"?

This morning I went to pick out my bridesmaid dress for my friend's wedding. She said I could pick any dress I wanted as long as it was in the specific color she chose. I chose this dress:...

This morning I went to pick out my bridesmaid dress for my friend's wedding. She said I could pick any dress I wanted as long as it was in the specific color she chose.

I chose this dress: http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_y-neck-ruched-bodice-crinkle-chiffon-short-dress-w10943_bridesmaid-dresses-short-bridesmaid-dresses

and sent her a picture, and she said it was great, so I bought it.

I also sent the picture to my mother......who responded with "it looks skimpy...." she thinks it will show too much and be inappropriate. I am normally a very modest person, and so is my friend, and we both thought it was fine. What do you guys think? I'm mostly worried about what the mother of the bride will think as she is even more conservative than my mom.

Do you think it "shows too much" as my mom said??

I really don't want to offend anyone at the wedding...

I don't think it's skimpy. Absolutely no cleavage and would be entirely appropriate in warm weather.

Devil's advocate: She may have meant that the material looks thin, especially if your friend is wearing a multi-lining dress.

That dress is a classic and very pretty. There is nothing skimpy about it. If you like it and the bride likes it, that is all that matters.

What does she want them to wear? Something that only shows their eyes? WTF

I expected to see a super short bandage dress with a deep v neck. This is absolutely fine.

I was expecting something super short, tight, or revealing based on the word "skimpy" but I wouldn't use any of those words to describe the dress. Guess your mom and others just have different ideas of what "skimpy" means. I think it's a cute dress and the V neck is different compared to a lot of other BM dresses (strapless, one shoulder, etc.). My BM's chose an illusion neckline because they thought it was different from the norm.

I think it's fine, but if someone is more modest I can understand how they could think it is skimpy.

Honestly, it really depends on your body type. On me, it would look too skimpy because I wear an H cup! LOL

    What is your body type?

Lol I was expecting this to be like a two piece dress with a crop top or cutouts. That dress is a very standard (and pretty!) bridesmaid style.

Definitely not skimpy. remember, the models are also usually a lot taller than your average person, so the skirt will be knee-length on most people and not look so short. Can you send your mom photos of a BM actually wearing one? That might help - when I got my BM dress for a friend's wedding it looked really tiny (strapless and short skirt) but once on we realized it actually was knee-length and looked fine.

The model isn't showing any cleavage, so maybe it had to do with baring your legs? I don't know, but I think it's perfectly appropriate.
