Does this bridesmaid dress look "skimpy"?

1Sooner.fan, on April 17, 2016 at 6:10 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 32

This morning I went to pick out my bridesmaid dress for my friend's wedding. She said I could pick any dress I wanted as long as it was in the specific color she chose.

I chose this dress: http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_y-neck-ruched-bodice-crinkle-chiffon-short-dress-w10943_bridesmaid-dresses-short-bridesmaid-dresses

and sent her a picture, and she said it was great, so I bought it.

I also sent the picture to my mother......who responded with "it looks skimpy...." she thinks it will show too much and be inappropriate. I am normally a very modest person, and so is my friend, and we both thought it was fine. What do you guys think? I'm mostly worried about what the mother of the bride will think as she is even more conservative than my mom.

Do you think it "shows too much" as my mom said??

I really don't want to offend anyone at the wedding...

No. This looks like a lot of BM dresses I see (and I don't mean that in a bad way).

It only matters what you guys think. I guess if you buy anything two sizes too small, it's skimpy. But no.

First of all your having a summer wedding. Its seems appropriate to me. I was expecting something short and tight haha. I think its appropriate. Plus some of the longer dresses are more pricey anyways and it still has straps. I think its fine.

How do you feel in it? I would say most dresses from DB would be a safe bet, and it isn't your mom's wedding to decide that.

Maybe your Mom is more used to long bridesmaid dresses? Either way, I was expecting a lot skimpier of a dress. I think it's fine myself. If you and the bride like it, then I see no issue with it. I wouldn't think twice about it if I attended the wedding.

Thank you all! You're making me feel much better about it! I felt great in it, and it was actually a little longer on me than in the picture anyway.

(I think my mom's main issue was with the top part though, she's not used to me wearing anything that doesn't have a t-shirt style neckline...).

I guess it's just my mom being a mom...sigh. I was just worried about making sure I don't offend anyone at the wedding. I wouldn't want to do that.

That's a nice dress! I definitely wouldn't call it "skimpy". As long as you feel comfortable in it and the bride likes it too I think your mom is just being a mom lol.

It's super cute! Anything that doesn't cover most of your skin would probably be "skimpy" to most of our moms haha! As long as you and the bride love it, wear it. It's super cute!

Not skimpy. Everything that needs to be covered is covered. Maybe she said that because she was expecting a long dress for a wedding? If the bride said it is OK, then don't worry.

Not at all. Assuming it is the correct length and similar to the picture I find it pretty modest

I think its classy and cute! I think that some people see skin and they think skimpy, but thats just not the case! I mean, the neckline isnt plunging or low and I think the neckline detail is quite feminine!

Definitely not skimpy. I think it's nice! A few of my BMs tried it on at DB and loved it. You're totally fine!

It might be a little much for a church wedding, but other than that, totally appropriate and definitely not skimpy.

It's only too skimpy for the parents and grandparents.

I was expecting much worse before I clicked on the link. I think you're good with that dress. It doesn't even show any cleavage like a lot of strapless dresses do.

Someone at an average height (5'5") it will probably be at the knee. And if the top ends making you feel uncomfortable then buy a thin shrug

    edit: not skimpy at all
