Does the veil always have to perfectly match the dress?

Rachel, on August 9, 2020 at 3:32 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
I know that this question has probably been asked in multiple different ways, but does the veil always have to perfectly match the dress? I am only asking because some of the dresses I am considering aren’t the traditional ivory/white color. Some are more on the pale blue or lilac side. I’ve seen photos of brides wearing similar color gowns with a white veil and I don’t mind the look. I know I could possibly look into having a veil custom made usually a similar shade as the actual gown, but I am prepared for a Plan B (white/ivory veil) or Plan C (wearing a tiara or other headpiece instead of a veil). What do you ladies think about this? I suppose it’s ultimately up to the bride since every wedding look is so individualized, but I thought I’d get some outside input. Thanks! 😊

I don’t think it needs to match. It’s like when people wear flower crowns and it’s colored flowers with a white dress

I would have the colors be similar to be honest. Are you considering a lace applique or just a tulle veil? Does not need to be dead on but you do not want the color difference to be completely off. Samantha at Blanca Veils is awesome and for $9 you get a swatch of six colors and 3 lace appliques.

I don't think it needs to match exactly! Mine does not match or have any of the lace that my dress does, and is fairly plain except for a beaded edge (which again, doesn't "match" my dress). I say go with the veil that you like best!

It doesn’t need to match, it needs to compliment your dress.
My dress is ivory with a blush undertone and my veil is ivory.

It does not have to match but I have heard that if your dress is ivory (not white), then your veil should also be ivory, so it is not brighter than your dress. Other than that, I don't think the designs have to exactly match, just complement. I actually got a more tone downed veil than the one I tried on in store because I didn't want it to overshadow the designs in my dress.
