Does the officiant wear a boutonniere?

Tina, on March 20, 2014 at 4:29 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

Should I make one for him, too?

We gave one to ours, it made him fit in with the rest of the group. He's the mutual friend who introduced us, though, I'm not sure if it's different for other officiants.

You don't have to. Especially if it's a pastor/priest/minister and they are wearing robes, I don't think they're supposed to wear them.

Totally up to you, and depends on your officiant. Ours is a close friend - I ordered her a neutral pin corsage that she can transition from suit to dress, if she is so inclined.

I purchased one for our officiant. I figured since he was a part of the ceremony and he gave up time I would honor his role in our wedding.

It is completely up to you. I think it's a nice touch, but the officiant doesn't expect it.

Ours is going to have a corsage, but she is a friend of ours.

I think it's very sweet but not necessary or expected.

We had one made that was just for him; but I've known my pastor since I was 4, and he wears a suit, not robes. Smiley winking

At least offer!! Though your wedding officiant is (or at least should be) compensated for his or her services, the wedding officiant is a vital member of your wedding party with the most important and significant role in the wedding ceremony. He or she should be invited to be in your wedding photos and should be appropriately dressed to match the wedding party (including a boutineer).
