I don't know how that will look, but most grooms stand out a bit from their GM, like a different tie, or different vest... do whatever makes the 2 of you happy.

It is your wedding... you make the rules of what you want to see, wear, eat..etc... as long as you are ok with it, go for it.

Here is an example... Black tux groom, light GM

    and Navy Groom, Black GM

They don't have to match, but I think a black suit with the taupe suits will look funny together. Light, light, light, light, black, white, color, color, color, color... That's what your bridal party would look like.

I could see him in black and his groomsmen in a dark grey- but they should stay closer to the same hue.

I think it also could depend on what color your girls are wearing.... but here is tan suits and some black tuxes on the right side... and a black suit on the groom and sweater vests? on the men. I guess if it is all consistent you can make anything work....

Don't take this the wrong way- because that's not how it's intended...

But that first pic Hayley posted looks like a gay wedding. Almost like the guys in taupe are one side and the guys in black would be the other. And there is a random guy with a white vest. Because if not, that's a big bridal party!

I'm not a fan of matching black and brown. To me, the guy with the black suit and the brown vest... yeah, doesn't look right. But that's my personal preference.

I think a lot also depends on the formality or informality of your wedding. Getting married in the evening in a beautiful, formal chapel would have a different "dress code" than a sunny, delightful afternoon garden wedding...

The groomsmen could even go without jackets...

He may just want to stand out at his wedding too. Show him and he may change his mind. I am having a hard time matching the guys with our browns! Aaaaghhh,

@Hayley C. I think those may be the solution to my problem they kinda look western and with a felt tan cowboy hat it will go perfect with my colors. Where did you find the 3rd pick down? I like the tan tuxedos with brown vest.

I think it would look fine depending on the feel of your wedding. FH is going to be in a black tux and his groomsmen are in light gray and I LOVE it. but my girls are in black and silver dresses too so that makes a difference

Yes black and taupe, I can see ... but it is up to you ... the only thing my groom is doing different is he's wearing an ivory vest and tie while the men are in wine vests and ties to match the girls ... but honestly everyone is different and if that's what makes you happy then go for it Smiley smile

DH wore a red vest and tie, and the groomsmen wore black. DH wanted to stand out, but also wanted the groomsmen to look nice with the bridesmaids (who wore black dresses and bright shawls).

@Hayley - the one thing I never understood about "I Love You, Man" was why Paul Rudd's character didn't just ask his everlovin' BROTHER to be the best man. Who would be the logical choice for most people. Done, movie over.
