Does she want to scam me or am i being paranoid?

Melanie, on September 22, 2019 at 12:24 AM Posted in Planning 0 5

I'm so stressed right now that I'd rather die. My wedding will be in a garden and I wanted wooden tables. I found on instagram a person who seemed very reliable. she showed me some tables she uses for her events and I liked them. I am stupid, I made a contract online and deposited 500 dollars by venmo. (Yes, I know I'm stupid) but I was too excited. then on her instagram page I looked at some different tables than the ones she showed me. and I told her that if he could make me an appointment to see the tables and choose the one I wanted since she had many styles. and she looks for an excuse not to give me the address. She doesn't make an appointment. I send her messages and she doesn't answer me. I told her to make my appointment and give me the address and she seems to just ignore me. I want to ask her for my money back because she doesn't give me confidence. but I'm afraid that she doesn't want to give me my money back.

what do you do in my same situation?

I would nicely ask for the money back and tell her your reasoning, if she says no then you can take her to small claims court since she didn't deliver on the services paid for.

I too would ask for my money back. If she says no I would contact my bank and let her know you are doing so.

Ask her for your money back, and tell her you have a contract.
Tell you you need to hear from her by monday or else you will be contacting your bank to report the charge as fraud and then you will be contacting the authorities

I agree with pp. be firm and assert that you are not messing around when it comes to this. 98% of people will respond to that. Does venmo have some sort of buyer protection?

Completely agree with the above posters. I’d ask for my money back and tell her i’d be reporting her charge as fraud to my bank, contacting authorities and reporting her to the better business bureau. You need to be aggressive. Get your money back and move on.
Sorry this happened to you! That sounds beyond stressful
