Does dance floor lighting at the reception make a difference?

Alison, on June 24, 2014 at 4:45 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 4

Hi ladies! A lot of DJs in my area have an option to add dance floor lighting for an extra charge. I've never been to a reception with dance floor lighting -- does it make a difference? Is it worth doing? Does it make people more likely to dance?

The extra charge doesn't seem excessive, but if it doesn't make a difference, then I'll probably skip it.

If dancing is important, get the lighting. It sets the mood.

Imagine walking into a bar/club, if the bar and tables were lit up but the dance floor was dark, would you be encouraged to dance?

I think you've made a good decision already. I sure there is already a little bit of lighting; every DJ I could find already included a little bit of lighting, and I didn't select to choose extra lighting on top of that.

One more area to save, in my opinion.

Lighting is very important! At FBIL's wedding, they tested the lighting at the rehearsal dinner (they weren't going to do it originally) it was so much better for the wedding overall.

The DJ is a friend and says it will set ambiance. He is adding them to our package at no cost so who am I to argue. I think it will make it a difference though bc we will have a sitting/lounging area and then a dance area and the lights will show the difference
