Does anyone else hate the word "fiancé"?

LOL - I can't stand it! It sounds so snobby to me. Like if I say fiancé I should be holding a pinky out while I sip on tea. I only use it if I have to like when I'm introducing him to work people or strangers. My FH and I always joke about it and laugh hysterically feeee-yuhhhn-sayyyy

Just a point of clarification-- fiancé is not gender neutral although most people do not pronounce the female fiancée correctly

Living in MA where being gay is so widely accepted, if I said partner most would assume it was my female girlfriend.

Since he was well past being a "boy" when we met, calling him my "boyfriend" sounded dumb. I was happy when we got engaged and I could call him my fiance. I was even happier when I could call him my husband!

I couldn't stand it!! When I would say it I would say it like a goof ball and make a face.

I almost always call him my husband. He does the same. I don't know why but to me us having kids together makes it even weirder

Yep. We called each other H.I.T. and W.I.T, wife/husband in training!

Actually, we call each other "Boo" haha. And when we got engaged we didn't like fiancé either, so we refer to each other as "Beyonce's" Yep, so lame, but hilarious to us.

Yes, I think it sounds snobby too but "boyfriend" doesn't really "fit" the relationship anymore either. We need a new word Smiley smile

I despise it. It's actually trailer park. Indeed, once it was snobby, until the trailer parks of America warned their only French word. One of them, must have made it past 8th grade.
