Does an ivory/off white dress look better on pale skin?

filmhappy, on January 28, 2010 at 2:23 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

I'm having a fall wedding and I'm considering ivory or off white for my wedding dress. Because I'm so pale, I don't want to be washed out - but I don't want the dress to be too dark.

I am also very pale, and I thought ivory would be the way to go. However, when I actually tried dresses on, I much preferred the white. I think the best best would be for you to try them on and see how you feel in them.

Yeah i agree with Gidge22 it depends on just how pale you are i think... my cousin is a lot paler than me and a white dress was horrible on her but i consider myself fairly pale and was ok with it... ivory looked a little better but the ivory dress looked dumb with the red sash that it came with and i prefered the white on red... just try some of each and go with what lookds best for you

The only way to tell is to try it on. I am pale, as you can see in the pic, and white dresses made me look like a ghost. So my dress is ivory and I, nor anyone else, for that matter can even tell that it isn't white. There are definitely different types of ivory so trying them on is the only way to tell what will look good and what won't.

I agree that you should try them on. I had every intention of getting a white dress (I have a near-olive complexion) but it was the ivory one that looked the best on me. so, you just never know until you try and see....

I am so pale but with a lot pink/red undertones.....ivory looked really good on me..so much so that other customers in the bridal salon always complimented me in ivory and how the color looks great against my skin tone...i also think ivory is more slimming on me.

I'm pale but I tan. No matter what I don't bronze! I tried on White & went with Ivory. Maybe it's my freckles tho. I just loved Ivory on me. Oh & like J.J said nobody even knew it was Ivory! lmao

I'm a red head with pale skin & freckles, but i do get relatively tan for a red head! My wedding is in September and my dress is a darker shade of ivory .. i'm in love with the color .. white just made me look washed out.

As you can tell from my pic, I'm so pale I glow! Ivory definitely looked better on me b/c I have the pink undertones to my skin. However, I found that the bright white or diamond white also looked ok.

I am a redhead...so obviously very pale, lol! I have pink undertones in my skin, so the ivory dress definitely looked better. I tried on a white one, and it seemed to make the pink stand out much more. But everyone is different, so just try them both on and see what looks best.
