Does a 12 year old wedding party need makeup on the wedding day?

David, on April 24, 2017 at 1:23 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 22

Our four kids will be our wedding party. The youngest is 12. Does she need makeup on the wedding day? She never wears makeup.

If she wants to! I would suggest some mascara and a clear or light pink lip gloss?

I would give her the option.

I know my Jr. Bridesmaid (11) is going to want it, but she won't have full/heavy make-up. She just loves to play with makeup, so getting it done professionally will make her feel like a princess.

I would say if she wants to. I am going to ask FH daughter who is 7 if she wants a little lip gloss and maybe a tiny bit of sparkly eye shadow or something.

I'd say if she wants- some eye make up and mascara and a lipstain- I certainly wouldn't pay 150$ for hair and 150$ for make up on a 12 year old.

if she isn't interested- then she doesn't' have to have it.

My little sister is around that age and she will wear makeup. It is a fun event so why not let her dress up and feel like a part of the big kids?

If you don't mind her having makeup and can afford it, yes it should be offered to her. When I was 12 I would have wanted to have my makeup done.

My sister's niece was 8 for her wedding and they included her. They put a little blush and eyeshadow and lip gloss on her. The MUA didn't even charge for her, which was nice. She loved it.

My BM will be doing my 13 year old daughter's make-up; keeping it simple.

Maybe just some foundation/lip color for the professional photos

I think that's a matter of personal choice and if you're comfortable with it and if it's something she would like. She may feel left out if everybody else is getting theirs done the day of. My oldest daughter is a few years younger than yours and I've gotten her dad to allow the girls to start wearing makeup around 16 but she does have a tinted lip gloss that's almost the exact color as her natural lip color that she gets to wear for special occasions ( it stays in my make up case so as not to tempt her ). She loves it and it makes her feel special and grown up. I honestly don't know if we'll allow her to wear anymore than that at the wedding, but we've got some time yet to figure that out. I have friends with older girls who started wearing makeup up at about your daughters age, I think it just boils down to your comfort level.

I told my 9 year old Jr BM she could wear some mascara and lip gloss and she surprisingly said she didn't want to wear any! Now that could change the day of, but I was surprised! So ask her!

I talked to my FGs (my cousin) mom and most importantly, I just wanted her and the girls to know they could come hang, have snacks with the "big girls" as we get ready. My H/MUA is willing to throw a few curls in their hair and add a little lip gloss if they want. If they want anything more, cool, if they don't want anyone it other than the snacks that's fine too! Mom is fine with whatever they want (within reason of course). For me at that age, I just would have like to been included with the big girls, whether or not I had my HMU done.

I certainly wouldn't think she'd need full on makeup but it would make her feel special, that's for sure. My daughter, 7, and soon to be step-daughter, 7, are my jr BM's and I'll put a little blush and lipgloss on them so they feel special (because they are!)!

I have a 14 yr old jr bridesmaid. She is my niece, and will certainly be getting her makeup done with us. But due to her age her makeup will be less heavy and more age appropriate. I would do the same for a 12 yr old. Remember the single most important reason for the makeup is the professional photos. So everyone needs a little something.

My 13 year old bridesmaid is having airbrush makeup applied for my wedding. She wants to be a makeup artist and is super excited about it. I'm excited to see her reaction!

When my mom married my stepdad she did my makeup, but the rest of the bridal party had theirs done professionally (I was also six at the time, and this was 24 years ago)

    (No one needs make up)

But if you want it and she wants it, I think some color on the lips would be lovely, maybe mascara and light powder or foundation if you really want to go all out.

I have a 12-year-old bridesmaid too!. I'm having her hair done professionally but not makeup. For makeup, I'm thinking she'll just have mascara, lip gloss, etc.
