Do you wear your engagement ring when you sleep and take a shower?

My engagement ring is gorgeous and I'm scared of sleeping with it. I take it off when I go to sleep and also when I take a shower. But then I feel bad because I forget to put it back on. And then I go out and I realize that I don't have it on!!!! And I think to myself: "my FH bought this for me and...

And then I go out and I realize that I don't have it on!!!! And I think to myself: "my FH bought this for me and I'm not even wearing it. I'm a bad girlfriend". I don't know what to do because I keep forgetting to put it back on because I'm constantly taking it off. And I don't want anything bad happening to it or loosing it!!!

I always have mine on unless I'm cleaning, doing yard work or handling raw meats. I also take mine off when I put lotion on.

Mine is on 24/7 including the gym. Needless to say I get it cleaned once a month, but I hate taking it off!

I take mine off to shower and at work. I work with parolees so it's not a good idea to disclose personal information.

I take mine off as soon as I get home, or whenever Im at my moms house, and especially when I am doing my daughters hair. And sleeping with it on would be painful because it is set high, and I like to lay my face on my hands.

I take mine off in the shower and when I'm washing the dishes (or anything similar). I do sleep with it on.

I take it off to shower but not for bed. I have to take it off working in the lab & I'm afraid I'll forget it at work

I can't wear mine most of the time. I work in a hospital and have clinicals in a rehab. My engagement ring would be a perfect place for germs to hide! That makes it so I forget to wear it a lot, but FH knows I love it and him and doesn't worry.

Off: shower, dishes, handling raw meat/cooking

on: sleeping/every other time unless something random like painting my nails, putting on lotion, or swimming.

I take mine off when I shower but I keep it in a jewelry dish in my bathroom vanity. That way, it's right in front of me when I go to leave and I remember to put it back on!

I take my ring off as soon as I come home. I just put it on when I am going out.

Mine is off as much as it's on. I always put it on when I leave the house, but often I have to take it off for work. I never sleep, cook, workout, or bathe with it on. I have a nice wooden ring box on my dresser I keep it in.

Emily, that was a really dumb statement. Really? You don't understand why people would take it off? Yes, there is insurance that can fix it. But I see customers come in all the time at work for things like them wearing their ring to the gym, lifting weights and putting too much pressure on it and having the ring go out of round....which means the stones could fall out/won't be as secure. You could potentially drop a weight on it and completely shatter your stone. You could also hit your hand on something hard enough that it will hurt your setting. So yes, I could have insurance fix it, but if I had to do something like replace my whole center stone or ring in general, it wouldn't have the same sentimental value.

As someone who works for a major jewelry store, I would never ever suggest wearing a ring every single second of the day (like at the gym) but I would never post here saying it's stupid to do so because it's rude.

I take mine off to shower, sleep, and when I am clean or making dinner. Soon when I get it resized and won't be scared about it coming off at night I will sleep with it on. But taking it off during shower, cleaning, or cooking time is because I don't want to get "icky" stuff all over it.

Umm why was MY statement dumb? I take my ring off frequently and was commenting about the idiocity of Anisea's post. Anisea is the one that thinks no one should ever take off their ring, not me.
