Do you need boutonnieres and corsages?

Private User, on June 20, 2014 at 8:20 AM Posted in Planning 0 13

My FH and I were talking about ways to cut costs and we wondered do you really need boutonnieres and corsages? I don't know what the tradition is behind them, but he doesn't see why any of the groomsmen need boutonnieres or who and why anyone would need a corsage. I kind of agree with him. Thoughts?

I see the point of bouts if the BMs are carrying bouquets. I don't get corsages for people not in the wedding (including the MOB/MOG). I think it's perfectly fine to not have them. We're not doing them,

Flowers is the one place we're going over budget. We are getting A TON of bouquets, bouts, and corsages. In the end it came down to the fact that we didn't want to offend anyone, and it was easier to give in than the fight the battle.

But to make this happen we had to cut in other places (getting a BJ's sheet cake, not having a limo, etc)

I'm not doing them. They seem kind of silly to me.

If I can DIY them, I'll do them. If not, nope.

We are DIY-ing them to save money. I don't think they're "required," but I wanted to have them.

We're not going them for the groomsmen since they'll already have a colored pocket square in their tux. They don't need to have both.

My mom could get offended if she didn't get a corsage, so we're getting them.

As FutureMrsH said, my mom would be offended if she didn't get a corsage. She actually said it's tradition in our family to get the moms, dads, grandparents, AND godparents bouts/corsages. I was like great, more money. So I would check with your parents/in laws to make sure they aren't expecting anything.

If you don't want them, I wouldn't worry about it. But if the parents/family/BP will expect something, you can find very affordable ones...especially if you think outside the box. I only needed 2 bouts, and I made my own... cost me about 50 cent each.

The only guys that are having the bout are my FH my father and his father, I'm doing pocket squares for the rest of the groomsmen

And I'm getting the grandmas carnations keeping it simple I saved 200 bucks so that was a win win

My husband and I told our daughter that we do not want one and her grandmother, who is one of the Flower Girls said she didn't want one either. Just the bridal party.
