Do you have to have a groom's cake?

Is it poor etiquette to not have a groom's cake? My FH doesn't seem to really care if he has one or not, so I was thinking about just making each tier of the wedding cake a different flavor to save money. Has anyone else done this?

Its a southern tradition. I chose to have a single tier cake and placed a ford mustang toy car on top because my husband is a car lover. The bridal cake was a smaller 3 tier. So if you did want one you can fit it into your cake count without it costing that much. the two for a 80 people was $300.

Skipping it! Put that money towards upgrading something else.

I've never heard or seen an grooms cake ever. We're not doing one. My cake is 4 tier and each has a different flavor

I had never heard of a grooms cake until just before my wedding!

I had never heard of a grooms cake before watching that cake decorating show that used to be on TV and I've still never seen one at any weddings so I think it's totally unnecessary.

Not necessary at all. FH didn't care about it so we decided to skip it. We are doing a three tired cake and each tier is a different flavor. As long as you have enough for your guests no one will miss you not having a groom's cake.

We're not having a groom's cake, and we're only having one flavor of cake. I figure having options is less important than having enough servings.

Were doing a dessert bar with 4 different cakes. There's no "groom's cake" though
