Do you have to have a dj for your wedding ?

Hello. My fiancé and I are getting married on Sunday April 26, 2020. We said that we wouldn't hire a DJ for two reasons. One, he's a musician/songwriter/music producer, so he has his own playlist that we jam too. He has all the equipment we would need. Two, all of the above, so we thought if a DJ wasn't needed then that's money we could save. However, my mother did say that we would need for someone to announce us and just kinda be the MC for the night. So, we now have DJ on our to do list.

We are not having a full reception just back yard casual celebration we will have dancing space with background music off playlists.

A friend of ours (and FHs boss) is a musician and has lots of equipment so he was more than happy to help us out. All he wants is a few playlists and instructions.

Our DJ was priceless on our wedding day because he served as an exceptional Emcee. If you are planning to have a friend take over the role, make sure they have some experience or at least outline your expectations. A wedding we attended did not seem to have a professional DJ and no one made any announcements - including standing for the bride during the processional!

Let me know how it goes! We aren't planning to have a DJ either. I am still nervous about the decision though

We are having a DJ. My FH and I agreed that music was one of our top priorities because we are such music freaks. Our DJ is also going to MC the event and will supply the dance floor.

Having a DJ is a personal choice for each couple. You don't HAVE to have one.

What is the app called to request songs? I am leaning more towards not having a DJ since we do have the speaker equipment & mic already..
