Do you count your anniversary from when you first got together or got married?

We celebrate both. For our dating anniversary we always go out to dinner at the place we had our first date (a local bar/pizza place). For our wedding anniversary we do something bigger like a night away somewhere or a fancier date.

Our dating anniversary was always a guesstimate since we didn't remember the date of the actual "first date" so we keep a general running tally of how many years we've been together but we really only celebrate our wedding anniversary. We knew each other before we started dating and then reconnected and hit it off, so it wasn't like a formal dating process lol.

We're in a situation similar to Hannah's. We knew each other before we started dating, and don't really know the date that we got together - or even which outing really constitutes our first "date" - so we just celebrate our wedding anniversary.

We are also getting married on our dating anniversary and plan to just keep the counter going!

I think since you're getting married on that dating anniversary, you can always just say "XX years together, XX years married" and celebrate all of it.

Our dating anniversary was celebrated on the anniversary of our first date (which was the day after we first met). We weren’t exclusively dating (no labels) until a couple months later, but coincidentally did not see anyone else after that first date. After COVID issues, we ended up getting married on that anniversary, so in essence, our marriage anniversary is the same as our dating/knowing each other anniversary.

We got married on our 11th dating anniversary, and I plan to acknowledge both moving forward!

We actually celebrate both haha. i mean we don't really do the dating anniversary in a large way compared to the wedding anniversary but i still think it is something to celebrate.

We celebrate our "dating" anniversary and our wedding anniversary. We dated 5 years before we got married, so the number is quite different. I like having multiple dates to celebrate. We also note the anniversary of the date we met each year, just for fun.

I am SO READY to start celebrating our wedding anniversary because our "when we became official" is literally 2 days after my birthday and i'm tired of sharing it!

We are only going to be celebrating our wedding anniversary. We are both too busy to remember all the other dates but if we happen to remember a special prior anniversary we might have a nice dinner or open a bottle of wine or something.

Our wedding anniversary will be the same as our dating anniversary, BUT we've always celebrated our first date as well as our dating anniversary and plan to continue to do that!

Great minds think alike!

We got married on our second anniversary of dating. It depends on how it’s worded for us. If someone asked how long we’ve been together, I’d say “We’ve been together for 3 years.” But if someone asked how long we’ve been married, I’d say 1 year. I don’t count it as the same thing.
