Do we still pay for guest that dont drink alcohol?

Anna, on August 11, 2011 at 12:07 AM Posted in Planning 0 12

Ok after finding a few places to have wedding/reception we seen the bar prices and im wondering since we are having 4 people all under 21 at the wedding can we not include them when it states for example "$12.00 per person"? To save money..cause I dont see why we would have to include them since they cant even drink. thanks

No you do not include them, my venue told us that if we did decide to go with alcohol, we'd pay per person for everyone 21 and up, as for the rest they're not included. Some venues may not allow that, they may just ask you to exclude the kids but the yound adult gets counted because just because they under age don't mean they don't drink...I know it's not always the case but it does happen, I had a 19 girl at our xmas party once and she was drunk and running around the place two hours after the party started...lol

@Anna, check with your venue, most of them have kids prices, they may still charge you after the wedding, my venue have separate prices for kids between 6-13 I believe, then they charge as adult (not too sure, i haven't looked at the info in a while)

One of the bartenders we looked at charged $1.00 for kids. It included non alcoholic drinks. Just check. I don't plan on including kids in our catering. Invinting the kids, but hoping a lot don't come. So far 72 adults and 31 kids.

I think you just pay for the guests you *can* drink alcohol, but as others have suggested, as whether there is an under-21 fee.

Yea, it depends on the venue..for mine I don't have to pay for under 21s since soft drinks are included in the meal price..but for some venues they include soft drinks in the open bar price so you have to pay anyways.

My venue, they have a non-alcoholic package for our guest who are under 21. I would ask the venue.

My venue made things simple by not allowing guests under 21 (it's licensed as a tavern).

I only found one venue (the one we picked!) that separated teens (13-20) from adults. The others all only had a special price for kids. We are really lucky in that respect, I think. Our venue takes $10 off for teens and it's only $25 for kids. If the drink price is per person, then I'd assume it's ok to not include them if they're not old enough to drink, but I'd double-check with the caterer/venue to be safe. They should be able to help you work out the breakdown. Smiley smile Good luck!

Our venue charges per guest for alcohol regardless of age. So if I have say 25 kids aged 6-20yrs I'm paying for them as if they were drinking too.
