DO NOT USE THIS PHOTOGRAPHER!!! Horror story!

hannah, on March 23, 2012 at 11:24 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

So last year when Steven and I became engaged my mom asked me, "what are the most important things to you in planning?" I instantly replied, "the ceremony location and the photographer." So I set out looking for the "perfect photographer." My first pick was Jessica Frey photography. She seemed a bit out of my price range so I went with my second pick, Made U Look Photography. HORRIBLE DECISION. I should have NEVER gone with Christina from Made U look. I booked her in August of 2011 and it has been a hellish experience ever since! It takes her WEEKS to respond to a simple email or phone call and has been very unprofessional. I decided to over look this because I love her work so much... But what happened last week was the final straw! I was trying desperately to make an appointment with her to go over last minute details and when she FINALLY emailed me back she never even responded to my desire for an appointment time, but instead said "I'll be in Paris during your wedding, but don't worry, I'll have my assistant shoot your wedding." My jaw dropped. Your ASSISTANT!? I'm not paying for your ASSISTANT to take some of the most important pictures of my life!!!! I emailed her back that I was not ok with this and that I was paying for HER to shoot my wedding. All she replied was that it could not be helped. Since then I've spoken to other people of this experience and they have told me that they have had or know people that have had similar experiences with Christina from Made U Look Photography. Furthermore, I have gone back to my first and favorite choice of the wonderful Jessica Frey Photography. I contacted her with just 29 days till my wedding day and she was able to accomadate my needs for one of the most special days of Steven's and my life. She saved the day!!! So this is a warning to anyone that is looking for a photographer for any reason: DO NOT USE MADE U LOOK PHOTOGRAPHY!!!! She will run you in circles and show total disregard for contract!!

I would pursue that. Did you sign a contract? It probably says that she is going to shoot your wedding. If so then she broke the contract and you should get the deposit back.

I agree with Alina! LOOK AT YOUR CONTRACT! If it says that SHE will shoot it, she broke the contract. Keep us posted!

I guess it depends on how much your deposit is but mine was like $400 and that may not be a lot to some people but we're on a strict budget so it make a difference to me!

Yes, the deposit said she would be shooting it and we signed it. The deposit is $100 which isn't too horrible if I don't get it back but still. Money is money and that's still a hundred bucks!

I would fight for it, especially if the contract said she would be shooting it. I know in the grand scheme of a wedding, $100 isn't a ton of money, but she shouldn't be profiting off her unprofessionalism.

Do you know any lawyers who could send her an official lawyer letter? That's usually enough to get someone to send a check rather than deal with the threat of a lawsuit.

I rather not go that far. All I'd like at this point is for to just own up to her mistake.
