Do Most Prefer Beef or Fish

We're having a plated dinner and trying to narrow down on menu selections. We plan to have two main entree selections and a vegetarian option for anyone who needs it. We've pretty much decided to go with a chicken entree as one option. For the second, we're torn between a beef option or a fish option. Choices for beef would be filet, ny strip, or prime rib and choices for seafood are norwegian salmon w/ asian orange ginger sauce or grilled salmon wrapped in parchment w/julienned vegetables.

If you're one of those that would select something else besides chicken or vegetarian, would you prefer a beef entree or seafood (salmon)?

EDITED: To correct typo.

I should have also mentioned we have the option to do a duet plate of

DUO OPTION

Sliced beef tenderloin, roasted shallot & mushroom, rich marsala wine sauce and

pinwheels of chicken florentine.

Should we just do this and call it a day? No second entree option which would mean no need to select an entree on the RSVP.

@LaurenB the caterer did say that we have the option to customize entrees and duet platters if what we want isn't on the menu. So I guess we could ask him to do something similar to what you mention.

Yep, I would scrap the chicken and go with beef (tenderloin), salmon, and veg as your choices (no duo plate though).

Chicken is boring and tends to always be dry at weddings!

Personally I'd choose the salmon if it was offered to me, but to offer at my own wedding I'd probably do beef!

I would choose beef over salmon. I would not scrap the chicken though. I love a good steak, but everyone wants their steak cooked different. I'm assuming your caterer would serve all steak medium, which will be over cooked for some and under cooked for others. As a guest, if I had the option of steak, salmon, or chicken, I would choose chicken, because it's the safe option. At a restaurant though, I would always choose steak. Hope that makes sense!

I think beef would be the popular choice since you have chicken and veggie plates already picked.

A decent amount of people hate fish and the smell. Personally, I love it but salmon wouldn't be in my top choice.

I don't think the duo plate would be the best idea either, I've met some people that don't eat red meat. But I think it's a "know your crowd" type thing.

I love salmon and eat it allllllllll the time, but I almost always get beef if I'm at a wedding/other function (probably because I eat it so much on other days).

Chicken is common. Fish is a food that a good percentage of people don't just dislike, but it makes them ill. I'd definitely add the filet mignon and if you want the salmon, add that as the second dish.

I would always go with salmon, unless I knew the beef was VERY good.

The filet mignon is more than good. It's what beef should taste like.

Not sure if it's an UO, but I'm not a fan of the duet thing. I don't generally tend to feel that two different kinds of meat "go" well together, and the plate never feels like one cohesive dish. It seems wasteful to just eat one or the other, but I don't really want to eat both. And each protein is on the smaller side, so if I just eat one it doesn't typically fill me up.

A bit off topic and rambley, but I would much rather dine on chicken OR steak than chicken AND steak at one meal.

UO: most of our guests are vegetarian or practicing Hindus. So we are forgoing beef and having chicken and salmon.

ETA: also the chicken was just so EFFING GOOD. Guys I'm so excited to eat at my wedding!

Thanks for all feedback although it seems to be a close tie between who would order beef vs salmon!
