Do I really need a flower girl & ring bearer

We skipped both in the name of simplicity and also in the name of not having to wrangle kids on the big day. H's bro who was his best man held onto the ring.

You should do whatever you want to do, and if you don't want a ring bearer or a flower girl, you don't have to have one.

My FMIL has been pushing for me to have both a ring bearer and flower girl since we got engaged, and neither FH or I want one. Just stand your ground on what you want.

You certainly do not have to have either. Especially with a smaller wedding. My uncle just remarried with a similar size guests and wedding party. The best man held the rings and they had a really small flower girl that ended up making things more complicated trying to get her down the isle and she got upset that she wanted to keep the flower petals.

I'm not planning on having either. Whatever floats your boat!!
