Do I pay for bridesmaid makeup trial?

Arena, on February 24, 2015 at 11:40 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

I'm paying for the bridesmaids makeup on the wedding day. They said they'd like to do a trial first. Do I also pay for that if we all go together?

Nope. No need for them to do a trial, honestly. I hate to say it, but they're not that important. Brides do trials. Bridesmaids do not. If they really want it, they can pay.

Also, it's great you're paying on day of. I'm not making it mandatory because it's not in my budget.

(And sorry if this is coming across as snarky. Based on PPs from today, I'm sure some people will get butthurt and post memes. Just trying to offer advice here.)

I think it's weird that your bridesmaids are having s trial. I had a trial for myself, my bridesmaids didn't at all. If they really want one though they should pay.

Yes they should pay ...only reason you should pay is if you wanted her to do the trial, which some brides do...

If THEY want a trial then they pay. I have never heard of bridesmaids having a trial! The bride does the trial and books the MUAH person based on what she prefers.

If you are paying the day of the wedding they don't need a trial bc 1. Your paying so its your preference so if you like the MUA go for it, and you do a trial. Send them your pictures & if possible where they can find that MUAs sample work (website, ig, fb, YouTube). If they don't like it they can pay for their own mua hours before yours show (dont want to late for pictures) or pay for their own trial

If they are the ones requesting the make up trial, they should pay for it. If you are the one requesting the trial, you should pay for it.

I agree with all the girls, i have never heard of the bridesmaids doing a trial. I paid for makeup and hair for all my girls but noone came with me for the trial. It's expensive enough without adding the extra cost of paying for their trial too. You can always let them know that this is not customary but if they really want it done then they will need to pay for it. But of course, it's your wedding and you know your budget so you can do whatever you want. Good luck and Best wishes !

I say hells no! BM doesn't need a trial, but if that's something she wants then she should pay

Agree with everyone else. You're providing makeup DAY OF, not for a trial. They're on their own for that.

I have never heard of a bridesmaids hair or makeup trial. I say if they want one let them handle it on their own.

I am making the gesture to pay for my MOH & BM's hair and makeup day of. I let them know that they have the option to do their hair and makeup professionally at no cost to them. Sort of like a treat for them, just one of the gifts (along with other more personal gifts) I plan on bestowing on them for my gratitude that they are standing by my side. My hair and makeup trial is scheduled for April and is costing a pretty penny just for the trial. I mentioned it to both MOH & BM and one was excited for me, and said she was fine without a trial because she couldn't afford it, and the other was a little funny about it ... making comments about "what if I don't like the hair and makeup that day?" - but, this person is becoming a pain with just about everything lately so I'm not surprised, but I sure as hell told her I couldn't pay for her trial and she would just have to decide whether or not she wanted to take the chance of letting them do her makeup. I gave her the company's website and told her to look them up and look up their reviews, they are a professional company and it was up to her. Hell no I wasn't paying for a BM or MOH trial. Its supposed to be all about the bride anyway like some have posted.

I think it is extremely rude for a BM to request a trial, particularly b/c you are paying for it. You pick your vendors, not your maids! Would your BM's like a tasting with your caterer in order for her to decide if she will eat there or not.

What is this BM going to do? have a trial, what if she doesn't like it? She's going to refuse makeup b/c it's not good enough for her while the Bride & the rest of the Maids get theirs done??? That's outrageous. Major diva status imo.

If she doesn't want it done then that is an option, but even with that being said, would never be a part of a BM group & refuse a service the rest of the girls are getting & the Bride is paying for. I think that is very rude.

Okay. I was just making sure. One bridesmaid said let's all do a trial together. I was wondering if I had to pay for that, too, which is just even more expensive.

My bridesmaids and myself are wonderful at doing our own makeup, and wouldnt want anyone else to do it, so we are doing our own.

    That being said....

I dint even think you should pay the day of. They arent important really. You are. If they want a professional to get them all glamed up, they shoukd pay for it. And they should DEFINITELY pay for the trial run if you are being so nice as to pay for the day of

Maybe just confirm with them just before you ladies book your trial that you will still pay for their wedding day make-up, but since the trial is completely optional it's up to them to cover it if they want to do it.

Only one bridesmaid is going with me and I am paying for her since it's her birthday the day before and I know she loves makeup, so I thought it would just be a nice gift to her.
