Do I need a veil?

Chrissy, on May 20, 2015 at 11:35 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19

So my favorite part of my dress is the back. It's not fully laced up in this picture. Will a veil hide this too much or take away from it in anyway? I want a couple pictures from the back on my wedding day. Ill throw a picture in of the front, too, since I'm in love with my dress.

Nope, you don't need a veil unless you really want one. I'm not wearing a veil. If you really want one, I don't think it'll cover your dress that much.

Part of me wants one, but I want my dress to shine lol. i would take the veil off for some of the pictures, but we are doing them before the ceremony and I don't know if i can get it back in. Also, they are expensive...

I was contemplating a vail too but Randy on SYTTD said on an episode that without a veil you're just a beautiful girl in a white dress and that made me really reconsider getting one. But it's totally a personal preference so if you feel like you don't need one then don't do it! BTW I loveee your dress!

I don't think there's a rule that says you HAVE to have a veil... but I think for the ceremony it sets the scene. If you really hate the idea of hiding the back of your dress - maybe consider a birdcage veil or a larger hair accessory to balance it all out?

I think all brides should have some type of hair accessory, is entirely up to you and what you feel comfortable with. PS: your dress is fun. very pretty Smiley smile

I'm not doing a veil. Just a flower crown.

Thanks!! I guess the real problem is that I cant make up my mind. That part that doesn't want one is also completely overwhelmed with how many choices are involved. There are so many styles!! How do you choose?

You don't need one unless you want one. Personally, I can't imagine walking down the aisle without a veil. Everyone at the reception can see the back of my dress!

No, not needed. Get a nice hair clip to accent your dress.

I wore a plain cathedral veil that i took off for the reception, it was sheer enough to see all the dress details. It was under $100.

Have you considered a blusher, or a short (shoulder length) veil?

I was thinking maybe you could do a full length veil, this way you can still see through it... if you like the idea of a veil I would suggest doing it! When you are at the reception, you can take it off, so this way everyone gets to see you with both!

They can be expensive though, mine was $400 (it has beading down the sides of it)

Ill have to try some short ones on. I think I do want a veil but I guess I always saw the birdcage veils as going good with a vintage look or something. I am not girly and I have no idea what I am doing. I don't even like jewelry so I don't know what to get for that either. I need an accessory adviser lol.

I think something like this might work:

So I think I'm leaning towards a birdcage now. Are they easy to take out and put back in? I may want some pictures without it.

My favorite part of my dress is the back too, and I just got a sheer veil that doesn't cut off at any point, and I was shocked at how much I liked it!

I have a veil like the one above. I Made it myself and my seamstress couldn't tell. Because I love long veils, I had to have one. However, I didn't want to pay for one, so I spent about 20 dollars making one. I did this so the tulle is the color of my dress(champagne) and so I don't feel guilty only wearing it for the ceremony. You can always try some on to see what you like. Hope this helps
