When I purchased the dress at DB last year, I also bought a crinoline/petticoat (the one where it just poofs out on the bottom). I had the dress altered there along with the petticoat because the back of it needed to be adjusted because of the dress. My alterations with the dress didn't go well at DB. I found a different tailor and in a few fittings he fixed the dress. He doesnt think I need a petticoat.

I don't really want to wear the petticoat. It's pretty uncomfortable and makes going to the bathroom and getting dressed more complicated. BUT I don't want to look dumb if really looks better with the petticoat. I don't want to look at my pictures and regret not wearing it!

I think I am looking for validation that this dress is okay as it is.

Pic on left are with petticoat.

I like the petticoat. I actually had my seamstress sew in more crinoline for more fullness. It was in between the layers of my dress (the top was satin and then there was a heavy structured under layer to hide all my bumps and lumps) , so the crinoline never touched my skin. That may be a good compromise for you.

I think it looks more elegant without it. It has a pretty flow to it.Smiley smile

Based on your bridesmaid's dresses and how uncomfortable it makes you, I would go without. The dress still looks amazing and you will be much happier on your day if you aren't uncomfortable!

What happens when you walk? Does the dress wrap around your legs if you don't have the petticoat on?

Remember, you'll be walking up and down the aisle -- not just standing in one place.

After the suggestions about it gathering between my legs, I put my dress on this afternoon (sans petticoat) and walked around for a while. It didn't get stuck between my legs after all. And actually, walking around in it made me more certain that I wont wear the undergarments. I liked the way the satiny material felt on my legs! Made me feel a bit sexy!
