Do i invite my aunt and uncle to my wedding? Cousins?

Julia, on November 10, 2019 at 7:04 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 4
Hi there
Here is the situation... my father’s brothers wife hates my mother to the point where she won’t even be in the same room as her, won’t look at her. It makes any situation they are together extremely stressful. The way I feel is I am my mothers only daughter and this wedding is a big deal for her too. I don’t want someone at my wedding who doesn’t even acknowledge my mother. Now my mother is difficult, but she did apologize to my aunt a while ago in which my aunt was not receptive and didn’t move on. When I see my aunt and uncle I always say hi because the issue has nothing to do with me. As well as I really like their kids, my cousins, and I want to invite the kids... not sure what to do... who do I invite or not invite?

I'd talk to your aunt about it. Say you'd love to have her there, but your mom's comfort (and yours by extension) comes first.

I agree with talking to your aunt. There may be more issues than just whatever the apology was for. Your mom comes first though

How does your mom feel? I wouldn’t invite any family members who made my mom feel uncomfortable.

I would invite everyone and just make it known that any kind of drama won’t be tolerated. Seat them at different tables and let it rock. It’s up to your aunt whether or not she wants to attend.
