Do I have to stop drinking?

...to lose weight? How bad is alcohol when you're trying to diet and exercise to lose weight. My goal is to lose 15 pounds in 5 months. I have already started to change my eating habits and I plan to start exercising this week.

I have been using my fitness pal and it has made me think twice if I want to have that second beer or not.

Honestly I have seen a change by drinking more water, having more fruits and vegetables and adding a bit more activity to my day. I still make sure to have a little sweets (a miniature dove ice cream bar has 70 calories and it has kept me on track) and I have my ocassional wine or beer or even whiskey with FH. If you cut everything out, it will become a lot harder to loose those extra lbs. Just keep things in moderarion and add more of the good stuff Smiley smile

You don't have to but it will make a BIG difference. I've lost about 16 pounds in the past 6 months and I don't think I would have lost even half without adjusting my drinking habits. I have made a few exceptions for the bridal shower, bachelorette, and an evening here and there so you don't have to cut it out 100% just limit it. When you do drink try and include lots of water and adjust your meals to reflect the extra calories.

Do you drink soda? If so. Chances are you drink lots more soda on a regular basis than alcohol and cutting that out could have a larger impact. That being said, yes cutting out alcohol will help! Also I second all the hydration advice

It definitely helps. Alcohol is empty calories. If you are going to drink though, have a few vodka tonics or something, nothing too sugary.

Yes reduce. You may stop drunk eating or wanting snacks when drinking too.

Margaritas = a shitload of sugar. Goes straight to your belly. I'm typing this as I'm drinking a Bailey's before bedtime btw.
