Hi all! So I am definitely NOT a dessert person and I certainly do not spend a lot of my hard earned money on sweets. I have decided to completely skip the wedding cake all together. Hi all!

So I am definitely NOT a dessert person and I certainly do not spend a lot of my hard earned money on sweets. I have decided to completely skip the wedding cake all together. However, I don't even have the slightest urge to spend money on any kinds of desserts for everyone else to enjoy. But, EVERYONE is telling me that I must have some kind of dessert at the wedding. After doing some research, I am looking at spending close to $1,000 on desserts alone, which makes my wallet cry.

What are your thoughts on having no dessert at all? If you believe desserts are a must, do you have any low cost suggestions?? (Even S'MORES bars are expensive!)

Thanks all for your opinions and suggestions Smiley smile

I would be bummed if there wasn't dessert at a wedding. I'm not a huge huge sweets person but I do feel like every kind of celebration should have a cake, cupcake, pie, cookie, etc. We're exploring the idea of not doing a cake either but rather a s'mores bar or chocolate fountain.

Do what you love! Fresh fruit, chips & dip, cake, cheese & crackers, etc. Make it your own!

Your wedding! Your rules! If you don’t want it, don’t have it.

For low cost options, I would look at grocery stores or local bakeries. Don’t look at wedding vendors. You can buy bulk cupcakes or cookies from Costco or any other grocer or baker for a “party” at a much MUCH lower cost than any wedding dessert vendor out there.

Sam’s club 3 tier cakes are only $70. Everyone loved them at our wedding.

How many guests are you having?

I am having a really small wedding and I am just providing cookies. I am going to have them wrapped separately and put them in baskets on a table and let guests help themselves.

My thoughts are that this is your day and what you want is what you should get. Neither myself nor my fiancee like icing on the cake and we had several bakerys tell us that you have to have some type of icing. Well my mom is the one who's footing the bill and she said if I don't want icing then she would make my cake and anyone else who had something to say didn't have to come. This is my day to be pampered not for me to make others happy. Just my 2 cents

Thank you for your input! I am definitely looking into something smaller for the sweet tooth guests to munch on.

I would be super disappointed if there was no dessert. My wedding cake is $250, they also offer cupcakes for cheaper. We’re doing s’mores at the rehearsal dinner as well.

I think you could go to Walmart for a nice simple cutting cake. For the main dessert maybe cookies? There are tiny pie places. Edible arrangements and have a giant fruit bouquet?

I really wanted to do a dessert bar idea with my groom but he hated cupcakes, pie, cookies, macaroons, cake balls, candy.... Etc. So we decided to go with bride and groom cake.

While most guests will expect cake or sweets, that doesn’t mean its a necessity! Overall, the biggest thing is that you get married and are happy! Say you don’t serve dessert, odds are no one will remember within a few months. My FH and I are getting a small cake for the wedding party and then Costco sheet cakes for the guests. Cheaper than other options!

Yes! They have a booklet with all the designs and you can literally choose any color you want for your cake. I just went for the simple one. 😊
