Do I get a second dress or not?

Sooo my current dilemma is whether or not to purchase a second dress. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the dress I originally ordered, no regret there. However, the owner of the boutique I bought my dress from is having a HUGE sale and is selling another Maggie Sottero dress for over $1200 off the original price. I wouldn't even be considering buying another dress BUT my mother absolutely loved this other dress and I also think it's beautiful. The dress I have now is fantastic, but fairly heavy. I am definitely not opposed to having a lighter dress that's easier to move in for the reception...I just don't know if it's worth it. The first picture is of my original dress (it will in white) the second and third pictures are of the possible second dress.

Opinions greatly appreciated!

I actually like your first one better. I wouldn't get the second one

I think I've attended about 13 weddings....and only one wedding did the bride change into a second dress, and that's because she wanted to acknowledge her Asian side of the family so she wore a traditional Chinese dress.

I do not see the point either, but I also wouldn't call it "braggy."

Personally, I want to wear my dress all night. IF money wasn't an issue, I still wouldn't get a second dress. I would add some unnecessary reception decor (like personalized napkins or some shit like that), add Chilean sea bass as an additional entree, hire violinists for my ceremony or cocktail hour. Not get another dress.

In your case I think it's pointless considering the style of the dress is almost exactly the same.

These dresses look so similar. I don't see the point.

I think 1 dress is fine. The dress you have is amazingly gorgeous and the other ones don't compare.

Are you only wanting a second dress bc it's on sale? Or because you legitimately wanted a second dress? They look the same and I don't see the point at all. It's a waste of time and $$ since they are the same, and please don't do it, just because it's on sale.

If you really want a second dress, look for something that is different but still bridal. Maybe something more sleek, flowy and sexy since you will be up and about, dancing, moving, sitting etc. A friend of mine changed into a short white cocktail dress..it was a nice contrast, she still looked beautiful and she didn't spend too much $$..

    Me personally, I'm not changing..

    For the record:

    1. No, I wasn't only considering the second dress because it's on sale, but that is an added perk. I mentioned in previous posts that my mom (and of course myself as well) loved this other dress on me and I had a very difficult time choosing between the 2 initially.

    2. Money is not an issue. Even without the dress being on sale, it would have been well within my originally planned budget for my dress. I just didn't originally purchase both for the simple fact that you all are right, I don't NEED two dresses.

    3. Yes, the silhouettes are basically the same. However, IMO the dresses are very different. Besides being very pretty, the appeal of the second dress is it's much lighter and more comfortable to wear.

At the end of the day, I will be taking the majority of the advice/opinions I've received and will be sticking to my original dress.

You keep saying they are vastly different- but we are all telling you looking at them- they aren't.

So- what you are doing is "YCRA" -you can rationalize anything.

but never the less- good move- don't buy the dress- spend the money on something fun to wear on the honeymoon- buy a great sundress (or five)

I have two dresses, BUT there's a reason for it. I purposely bought an extremely inexpensive second dress that is very similar to my original dress because the day after the wedding we have bridal/couples portraits in the Disney parks, and I don't want to risk my dress being super dirty/spilling on it and it being gross for the photo shoot. So I'll change into the second dress after the ceremony and go to the reception, and wear my original dress for the photo shoot. I also paid less than $200 for the second dress as a DB sample, so it wasn't like I was out a chunk.

Don't waste your money. Your original dress is stunning and should be special. Unless you have money to burn just stick with the one

I second the "don't understand the point of two dresses" club.

I'd be worried about damages to it since I assume it's a sample. I wouldn't want to pay those costs plus additional alteration costs even if the dress is at a really good price
