Do guests really want wedding favors?

Hey All- So I'm having a pretty nice wedding but I'm trying to keep it under a certain budget of course. Do you think guests really want party favors? Do you think they notice if there aren't any on the tables? I have been to several weddings and I don't think I remember the party favors. If I take...

Hey All- So I'm having a pretty nice wedding but I'm trying to keep it under a certain budget of course. Do you think guests really want party favors? Do you think they notice if there aren't any on the tables? I have been to several weddings and I don't think I remember the party favors. If I take them home, I normally throw them in a corner somewhere and never look at them. I think not having party favors may be a way of saving money for something else in the wedding. Thoughts?

My favorite favors have always been something edible so that is what FH and I are doing. We figure it is something that can get snacked on later should people get hungry again and if they leave them, then we will gladly eat them!

I think it depends on your crowd. Both DH and I are from families who love them so we could not have had a wedding without them. We offered several different favors for each portion of the celebration and not a single one was left behind.

I've been to a lot of weddings but the standard seems to be candy/mint on the table wrapped in tulle. On occasion you run into something special, for instance, the uncle of the bride blew glass for a living. He supplied all the favors which were hand blown swans with colored water inside them. Very unique. Smiley smile

We are just doing the candy buffet cause it's pretty and decorative but also serves as the "favor."

I don't really ever pay much attention to favors, and I'm not planning to do them, I've got other ways I'd prefer to spend the wedding $

JoAnn Fabrics and some other craft stores sell printable labels for water bottles as well as little starburst to put on Hershey Kisses. You can print whatever you want and won't feel bad when people throw them away because they're cheap and easy.

Not me. I want good food and drinks I don't have to pay for. If there's a favor, I'll notice and oooh/ahhh over it as needed but if it's not edible I'll leave it behind. If there's no favor, I won't notice.

If there's a sweets/cookie/snack/candy table or photobooth though, I'll be all over that like white on rice. Smiley smile

I've seen plastic cups (usually next to a keg or something). those are totally reusable and i love that idea!

anything edible would be fine, but i also wouldn't be disappointed if there were no favors at all, honestly.

I'm doing a DIY, custom coasters. Will be making them from tile from Home Depot or Lowe's and cardstock or scrapbook paper. Each one will be completely different. I'm excited to start my project. Good luck!

DeAnna P: I love that idea! How much is it costing?

I don't care for favors either. I think they are a waste of money unless it's something REALLY good.

My FH really wants to do a cool favor that people will like, but we need it to not cost a lot.

I went to my sisters wedding 6 years ago and I still have the favour box and also my flower. it is nice to get it out now and again and look at it to remember their special day. I want something that will reflect me and my husbands tastes. So it will be a nice keep sake for everyone.

I ordered keychains made out of wine corks from Etsy. I thought they would be cute....they only cost me .90 cents...I think it is nice to give your guests something...alot of brides on here seem to be opposed to the idea. Good luck!

My favors are also a part of my decor so it's multi-purpose. I am using small gold picture Frames for the guest seating cards...the Frames are theirs to take home. No date or anything on it so they can use it for whatever. I know that I've thrown away most favors in the past except for the picture Frames :-).

The big thing here is a photobooth so I am having one of those and the pics will be their favors, They can take pics with whoever they want and then keep them on the fridge or whatever...

I do not think they are necessary. We are making s'mores on sticks. A fellow bride on WW made them for her reception. We tried them out and they were fantastic! I'm hoping guests will eat them that night.

We have decided to buy a small favour box for all the adults with a few chocolates in and for teh children we are giving them a choice of coloured box and some colouring pencils so they can colour and personalise there own box and then give each child some sweets to put in there own box. That's what we are doing.

I am torn as to what to do for favors. We are having a Cinderella themed wedding and a Viennese table. So my question is should I do cake pops and soap favors or just the soap? Please give me your advice!!!

Honestly, I think it depends on the favor. If it's something that they'll use (olive oil, balsamic vinegar, honey, jam, etc) with a custom label, then it might be something they can enjoy for a few weeks/moneys after the reception.

We purchased our wedding favors from this site https://www.bestpricefavors.com/product-category/wedding/cheap-wedding-favors-ideas/ it was very affordable and our guests loved their favors. We purchased wedding sunglasses that got us some great wedding photos and wedding candles that we also used as decorations. So these favors served many purpose, excellent deal. I would recommend buying favors that serve multiple purpose, so you get the most bang for your buck.
