I know I am a big girll, but omg I have tried on a few dresses in the past few days and I have been trying 20,22, & even 24 now I am being told to order a size 28 when I normally where a 20 more so cause of my girls. I am confused and feeling suoer fat!!

They do vary... I wear a street 10 and ordered my dress in a 14. Fits like a glove though! Smiley laugh

YESSS they run really small!!! I am a normal street clothes size 0 and for my dress had to order a size 8! I was in shock but that is also because I have a big bust as well. So I will have a lot of alterations in the hip area.

Ready to wear and bridal fashion are RIDICULOUSLY different. I wear a 14/16 in most ready to wear dresses but had to order a 16W for my wedding gown at Alfred Angelo. I even purchased a dress to exit our reception off the rack at Davids Bridal (offline) and I got an 18 JUST IN CASE. The 18 fits perfectly, so it really depends on the stores and even the brands of each gown.

It depends on the fit of the dress. I wear a size 10 in the pants and a small in the top. My boobs are nonexistent without a bombshell bra so the dresses would fit really awkwardly if the were tight on my hips because I had to get a large size to fit my hips. Don't look at the sizes just the fit.

Yes they do! I hate buying clothes anyway, but this dressing shopping was starting to make me crazy. I knew what I wanted but could not find it. Finally found the dress, store had size 14! The lace jacket has ribbons around it and those were like tourniquets on my arms. The dress was clipped to my bra etc. Not sure what size I need, but dieting and exercising to lose some wt before I order. They order the dress based off the biggest measurements from what I understand. So if you got big girls, you will get a bigger size.

I also always have to order a size or two more because of my boobs! It's very annoying. My dress had to be majorly taken in at the waist because of this.

As everyone said, the sizes are different in bridal. I'd just make sure you have great stuff to wear underneath and then just trust the shop people as it's their job to make sure you get the right size.

I wear a size 2/4 normally - I tried on an 8 in one dress and I could barely breath, in another designer I tried on a 4 and it was a huge bag on me. All the sizes are different and they are all cut very different as well. Some assume you have a huge rear and small boobs...and vice-versa lol!

I normally wear a size 12 and had to get a 16 wedding dress.

EDIT: I've noticed the same thing for BM dresses. My MOH is 100 pounds and wears a size 2. She needed a size 6 dress from DB

Good to know that dresses run extremely small. I feel like if any clothes should have "vanity sizing" it should be wedding dresses lol!

Love dress 2 on you. I am in the same range as you. I wear anywhere from 18/20 in regular stuff. I tried anywhere from 18 to 28 in dresses, though it was at a bridal consignment so some were altered. Mine I ended up with was a previously altered dress in a size 28
