DJ/emcee cost

Erica, on May 29, 2017 at 1:15 AM Posted in Planning 0 25

I'm wondering what y'all have paid for a DJ/emcee. We're looking for comparisons and have had several quotes in the $700 range. Also, did you go with someone that provides lighting? Or if not, do you wish you had?

Check out the Vendor tab for a variety of pricing in your area. Vendors are often priced differently by region. What someone pays in NYC is going to differ greatly from what someone pays in a small town in the midwest for example.

My cost is over double what you're getting quoted, BUT I'm in Southern California things tend to be a lil more expensive.

I got a good deal at $1200, just a dance floor light, but I'm in the SF burbs so it's an expensive area.

Most DJs in my area (Midwest), are starting at $1,300. We did get a Friday wedding & Veterans discount through our DJ though & it's now costing us $900.

Our DJ was originally priced at $1500 (we live in Boston), but we were lucky because they offered a special discount for Sunday weddings and then another if you paid the fee upfront, so we ended up paying right around $1000 for 4 hours of DJ service.

We paid just under $1600 all in for ours. Came with 8.5 hrs, pre ceremony, ceremony, reception, dance. He threw in lights which we did not know about until dancing began. Wireless mic, equipment and speakers and projector/screen that we wanted. A backup sound/DJ also showed up that we did not know.

He also MC'd and dealt with the reception timing/coordinating food and announcements, games and speeches. As well as photo shotlist call out. He did it all! Worth every penny considering we got through 12 formal shots with a ton of family members in 15 minutes.

I was quoted 1800 by one who provides ceremony & reception service and photobooth.

Another (same area) was 2500 for the same services.

These 2 have the best reviews in my area (within a 10 mile radius! hah)

Just in regards to lighting. I think it looks great. However my photographer told me not to get it. As it makes your skin and everything turn that color (pink, blue ). And the pictures aren't so great.

Ours in Atlanta is $750, but that is with 2 discounts because they are a preferred vendor at our venue and they gave us some off for it being in a slow month!
