DJ (master of ceremonies) vs day of coordination

Nadia, on November 16, 2016 at 12:34 AM Posted in Planning 1 11

I know I'm beating a dead horse here with DOC question....but here I go again. FH is strongly opposed to getting a DOC because as part of our contract the DJ is the master of ceremonies. I'm leaning towards getting a DOC simply because it will reduce my stress. So I'm wondering if anybody has any experience with both, individually and together.

A DOC is not the same thing as an MC/DJ. They have totally different responsibilities.

A Master DJ I believe is someone that's outgoing and gets the party started. A DOC organizes your vendors and makes sure everything runs smooth before, during, and after the event. They're two totally different things. If you don't have a DOC, you need to have someone in charge to coordinate everything before the wedding.

Definitely not the same. Your DJ is only going to execute your reception timeline. A DOC will take care of all the tasks that need to be done before the ceremony (setup, coordinating with all your vendors as they arrive/make deliveries, anything that needs to be done) coordinates your ceremony, and then helps everything run smoothly during the reception.

Yeah. This should turn into a non issue once he realizes he simply didn't know the difference. I can't imagine not having a coordinator.

Our DOC saved the day on more than one occasion. We got married when hurricane Matthew hit so all our plans changed. She made sure everything still went perfectly.
