Hey guys! just curious what what you have paid for a DJ and uplighting? We’re starting to get some quotes and I’m shocked at how expensive it can get!

I’m in NC and we’re paying $900. He’s doing both the ceremony and reception. No uplighting either. He does provide a small lights with his equipment. We really don’t want uplighting.

If anyone quotes you more than $50 per uplight, I highly suggest RentMyWedding ($25 per cordless uplight, free shipping in the US, easy to set up/return ship). After being quoted $90 each, I found them online and used for our DW. They shipped directly to our DW resort. 👍

I paid around $1300 for mine with up-lights, and a total of 6 hours. That price included a photobooth and attendant. I think it would of been $950 without The photobooth.

This heavily depends on the area you’re in. But wherever you are shop around & be sure to ask for a discount (lots of independent vendors will give you at least 10% off). Let them know your budget so they can work around it. We’re in Manhattan & cost of everything is the highest in the country!
We got our DJ for $1150 for the whole event (ceremony, cocktail hour & reception). He has amazing reviews on WW & is the nicest person & also happy to work with us to play exactly the music we like. We didn’t get uplighting because our venue already has it, but if you get quoted high for this, you can rent or even buy them for very cheap. Some other quotes we got were double for the same service, so shop around!

Ours ended up being $599. I found them on Craigslist of all places, it was an entertainment company so the owner also had affordable DOC prices and waived travel fees for booking 2 services. Winner winner chicken dinner!

Edit: I'm not sure why this double posted and I can't delete.

We hired Powerstation Events. Haven't had the wedding yet but I've heard good things from other people who have used them and they were a preferred vendor for our venue. we didn't do uplighting but if I remember right it started around $400

We paid 489 for our DJ & uplighting. I was shocked myself on expensive DJs are but we were able to book him during a spring break special so we only had $289 left to pay the day of the wedding.

I'm also shocked by the DJ prices! I'm in Atlanta, and thought we might be able to find a DJ under $1,000. Still hunting though - so I'll circle back with what we end up finding!

I'm in Charlotte, NC and our DJ cost $1,200. This includes our DJ being at rehearsal the day before to go through everything. Set up/break down for the ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, all MC duties, and also the set up and break down for the magic mirror photo booth. This is something that we could have found cheaper but wanted to splurge a little on.

Holly, the company is DJ Connection. They have locations across the US! Smiley smile They had a special going on through May 17, and we received a $100 off because my husband is in the military. They are AMAZING! From the first phone call they made us feel so important and listened to everything we are wanting for our wedding. I'll attach their website. I didn't know about the special until I had a call to get a quote from them either so they may be offering additional specials right now! Smiley smile

Like a few others said up here in Boston bids start at 2k. I'm going to reach out to a family friend but honestly I'm thinking for foregoing a DJ, I just can't justify the cost when a phone and headphone jack are free.
Plus I'm a daytime beach wedding I don't need lights.
