Anything can be a diy if you choose to put the effort into doing it. I would say do not diy your music though.

I love diy and the savings that come with it. I wouldn't attempt diying the food, or hiring a friend to be a "photographer" (unless they actually are a professional).

I would not DIY food/cake, photography, music or real flowers. Fake flowers are okay to do in advance because they will last. Real flowers can only be done the day before and will leave you with green fingers.

Almost all of my decor is DIY. This mostly includes: signs, centerpieces/aisle decor, and the flowers for the big day. I will say, I looooove crafting and had a lot or time to plan (21 month engagement). I personally would not DIY: food, hair/makeup, dress stuff.

Here's some of my favorite projects!

    DIY no-nos:

    * Spending a lot of time DIYing stuff that wasn't really important to you in the first place, and thus could have been skipped.

    * Doing DIY because you think it will save you money, without actually figuring out how much you will spend on the materials (including money spent on materials you mess up).

    * Doing DIY that saves you so little, you're working for 50 cents and hour (unless you actually enjoy the DIY and don't consider it work).

    * Doing DIY for something that you really want to look right, when you don't have the skill for it, so you end up going out and buying it anyway.

    We used DIY for:

    * Things that were important to us, if DIY would save us enough money to justify the time involved (e.g., the chuppah (wedding canopy) in my avatar).

    * Things that were important to us, and simply weren't commercially available at all (e.g., invitations and programs based on the design of our ketubah (formal Jewish marriage contract)).

The boots look so cool, Roxana! Will you be wearing them with your wedding dress?

I'm DIYing a bunch of stuff including signs, escort cards, wedding party gifts, and making all our flowers out of crepe paper. I'm skipping things I know I couldn't make better than I could buy, things I wouldn't enjoy doing, and big projects. I know I could make really pretty arch out of wood, but getting it to our venue and back home afterwards would make it not worth it. Even though our DOC will set up and tear down everything, I'm limiting us to what will fit easily in a car or two.

At first I was going to try my hardest not to do a bunch of DIY just because I didn't want to put it off like I knew I would and then be stressed. But then I realized I don't love a lot of the signs and all my venue has...so here I am, about to do a bunch of DIY signs two weeks before. I like being crafty though, and odds are I can sell some of it afterwards!

I'm DIYing almost everything... Including the food. Flowers, all the decor, my hair, my veil, my shoes, my jewelry, all our yard games, our ceremony backdrop, invites and all the accompanying stationary, food, music, lighting... Pretty much everything but our clothes...

I think you are gonna be okay with what you've chosen to DIY, just make sure you have plenty of time!! I have 5 days left to finish 3 signs and I am so burnt out. I love what we've made but I wish I'd chosen to do a bit less! I would say if you CAN find some decor you like already made go with that, make things you wouldn't be able to find elsewhere or if DIY is more cost efficient. I will say we spent a lot more on art supplies than I anticipated!!

Me and my sister are doing all our decorations for my beach wedding. I feel like the more I can make without having to pay for it the better
