diy Suggestions

Monica, on June 9, 2019 at 3:14 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 24
Does anyone have any DIY suggestions that they’re doing for their wedding? We aren’t having anything too big and we don’t wanna pay a whole lot of money for things that we can do ourselves.

I am DIY-ing custom wedding favor glasses that I got from the dollar tree assorted styles with our initials and wedding date. The centerpieces some parts I got from the thrift store and dollar tree, my cake stand and cupcake stands, my bouquet (using silk flowers and brooches). I can't find the shoes I want so I'm bedazzling some shoes to match my reception dress. Also doing my daughter's tutu and barefoot sandals.

I’m DIYing almost everything. Centerpieces, invites, out liners in my envelopes, programs, menus and ceremony decor. Do you have a theme?

I'm DIYing my own pew bows out of tulle! Saving me a ton of money, plus I can make them exactly how I want!

You don’t necessarily have to have a theme was just asking because then we would be able to suggest DIY stuff better.

So far we are DIY our centerpieces and decor for our sweetheart table. I saw some cute floral "LOVE" letters on here that I am thinking of replicating as well. I think I am going to DIY our guestbook as well with an instax camera.

I hear you just take it one step at a time. I think we get overwhelmed because we tend to try and plan the whole entire day lol instead of one task at a time. Once you have a venue then I think that helps set the tone and mood and can help with a theme should you choose to have one. Start with invitations, look things up online and see what you like. Then start playing around with fonts, backgrounds etc. then move on to decor (one month centerpieces, one month bouquets, etc). Not sure how much time you have so just giving an example. You got this! Pinterest is great to help with brainstorming!

We diy-ed a lot. One thing we did was compared prices of things (vendor doing them versus me or someone in the party). Some vendor prices were the same or cheaper than what we could do, and we went with these, especially if it made things easier for us. We have a lot of people who are helping out, which makes a lot of the diy helpful (some things are their wedding gifts for us). Doing invitations and decorations saved us the most I think. Also, my flowers are from Sam's club, which is 10000x cheaper than other places!

Yesss the venue was the first thing we did. We’re getting married in June of 2020 but, everyone who is invited to our wedding is traveling to us. so I feel like I need to get everything together ASAP so people will have enough time to arrange everything they need to. 😭 & thank you so much, Pinterest is great!

You're welcome! I also learned that saying "event" instead of "wedding" gave me lower price quotes.

Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Amazon...they'll all become your best friends. I am doing all my table centerpieces, my bridesmaids bouquet, my own bouquet, pew bows and my own flower crown.
