diy Photobooth: Simple Booth App

Jeanine, on June 18, 2020 at 9:55 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 3 8

Has any used the App Simple Booth for creating their own Photo Booth? I think it would be a fun way to get more pictures of guests having fun beyond how late our photographer is planning to stay. I already have a tripod and iPad that could be used so I would only have to purchase a relatively inexpensive backdrop and maybe a photo light ring for the iPad so the added cost with props is likely going to be less than $200 which would be $300 less than the cheapest photo booth rental near us. We wouldn't print the photos off but rather upload them to social media and our wedding website for guest to download and keep in the future. Maybe I could even print them off inexpensively and mail the guest a copy with their Thank you!
Let me know your experience!

TIA!!!

Never used that app before but what you're planning sounds pretty good. maybe you can get some super inexpensive photo props too

We’re going to try it for my nieces birthday this weekend! I’ll see how it goes and comment back my thoughts on it. Our DJ’s wife usually comes with him to his events and she would be open to assisting guests with using a DIY photo booth but are looking for something that will be self sufficient for guests to use. I think I decided to skip the printer and go entirely digital since it looks as though guests can get the photos online by email or text from the app anyways.

    Stay tuned!

That's a cool looking set up!!

I'd also see if you can find a cheap / quick photo printer because guests love to take those home and save them. Smiley heart Or you can have a sign saying how and where you'll share all the photos! Individually sending out each person's pics would be really sweet but also time-consuming. 😉

Update to my experimenting with SimpleBooth apps. They have 2 apps- simple booth classic and Halo 2. For an event or party- I recommend Halo. Classic has like a free version and a purchase-able version of $99. Halo is the event version that costs $29/month. This is the one I recommend. You can create a template for your photos and choose many different photo options/GIFs. Downfall- only 1 layout for the event. Guests can’t choose.

But! It’s only $29 for a month. I’m skipping the printer idea because in the app, you can let guests text a link to their phone, a photo image text, a QR code, or email them a link of the photos.
Then the app downloads all the photos from the layout as well as the finished project!
It’s going to take some time for me to set up a layout and “logo” for our wedding but I think this is a cute inexpensive way to add a little more fun to the evening since I already have the tripod and iPad.

Thank you so much for this idea & feedback. We are getting married Oct 10th and we are doing our own photo booth as well. I have the tripod, backdrop, props & iPad but just wasn't sure what to with all the pictures our guests take. I am definitely going to look into this option!
