diy painted champagne glasses

Tiffany, on October 15, 2019 at 9:09 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 8
I want to diy some glasses like this for myself & FH. I bought glasses from dollar tree and some multisurface/glass paint. The paint bottles say to put the painted glasses in the oven for a bit to bake them...I know people must do that all the time but I'm just nervous about it. I have these visions of them exploding. I think the baking is just to make sure it stays. However these are basically one time use glasses, we probably won't use them again after the wedding. Think they'll be fine without the baking?

My FMIL is hand painting champagne flute as favours for our guests and I’m pretty sure she has been putting them in the oven to bake them and they have been just fine. Good luck!

I’ve baked painted ceramic mugs before. You have to put it in the oven before turning the oven on so it heats up slowly and allow it to cool completely before removing it from the oven.

    Hey Tiffany!

I would be super nervous too that that would shatter!

Ambers advice makes the most sense to me, that you would put them in before turning the oven on so they heat up slowly and allow to cool before removing! I don't have any experience with this, however, I would imagine heating them slowly would minimize the glass shattering!

Which design are you going to paint on them?

I read the paint bottles more carefully and they suggested letting it air dry for a decent amount of time before putting it in the oven. I think I'm going to go ahead and try it and I'll definitely follow the advice of the PP's . The two pics I posted were my inspiration! I ended up doing a mix of both. My FH is a police officer so I've been looking for ways to add little police details.

They turned out so good! Gosh, you're creative. I would not have been able to paint these!

What else do you plan on DIYing?

Doing artificial flowers so I still have to do bridesmaids bouquets and the boutinneres & corsages! I'm sure there's other things too, I can't think of them at the moment. I need to do the guest favors, but those probably cant/won't be done until closer to April.
