DIY Map Help!

Keisha, on August 2, 2014 at 11:00 AM Posted in Planning 0 8

I have been trying to do a map for guests and getting frustrated with it. I have tried www.weddingmapper.com and few other sites. I have also tried powerpoint, microsoft word, pushlisher and I have the new version so I can't find what I'm looking for in the programs. Anybody do this that can give me some insight?

I just made maps on Googlemaps and included it in the invitations. I made three routes and included the one that they would most like use.

I did mine on photoshop. See if any of your friends are graphic design savvy and reach out for help. There are several inspiration pins that can be found on pinterest. Do you want something clean (like the one I made attached) or are you looking something whimsical hand-drawn ones like the other one I attached. I love the whimsical ones but my fiance vetoed it

I actually made that first one for our invitations that I'm in the middle of DIYing.

It took me a while since I hand traced from a screenshot off of google map but I'm happy with the way it turned out. I used Photoshop.

I found two tutorials that came out with clean maps using Powerpoint

This is the first draft of mine. I just started working on it. I used Publisher. I took a screenshot of google maps, inserted that into my document and traced it. In publisher you will insert shape, choose curved line, and then edit the points of the curved line to match up to the screenshot. It took some play with the get the lines to line up correctly, but I think I only spent like an hour. You can edit the thickness and color of the line as you want. Then I deleted out the screenshot and added details like street names.
