Diy makeup help!

Stefanie, on January 13, 2020 at 1:25 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 2
Hi ladies,

I am going to DIY my bridal makeup and I was wondering what the best foundation, primer, and powder is for photos? What about blush (creme or powder?) And lip stick?
I dont want to look cakey or too flat. I want a natural look without all that oily shine. Also, any tips on how to apply makeup for the big day?

Good question! I'm waiting for a response from my Mary Kay consultant for the same thing. I got a free beauty treatment from David's Bridal to do a Mary Kay thing, and it was actually really fun. I have a lot of The Balm makeup stuff, but my foundation is kinda heavy so I'm hoping she can hook me up with something more natural. I saw some good pins on Pinterest for natural makeup looks, just not sure what products they use.

I'm also gonna do my own makeup on the big day and aim for a natural look. I've been trying out different products and practicing for the past few months. Here is some advice for you:

    - Determine what type your skin is. If you have dry skin, I recommend creme and liquid products, and if you have oily skin, you should use powder to control oil. When I realized that I have dry skin and switched from powder to cream makeup, it was a total game changer for me!

    - Primer: Very important for both face and eyes. When we see all that silky perfect makeup on instagram, a lot of it is due to good priming.

    - Apply foundation with a beauty blender for sheer coverage and a dense brush for full coverage.

    - Look for long lasting products. I personally use smashbox foundation (very long lasting and transfer-free while having natural finish), and sephora lip stain (want it to stay on through all the kisses, food and drinks lol)

    - Setting spray: Invest in a good setting spray that will keep your makeup fresh all day. Choose a dewy finish or matte finish setting spray depending on the look that you're going for Smiley smile

And most importantly, apply makeup with a light hand and slowly build it up for that natural look!
