Susan, on July 31, 2019 at 3:58 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 23

Hi all!

I am going to DIY my makeup for the wedding and was hoping to get some constructive criticism on it. Looking for it to be natural looking. Other than powder (I AM SO OILY PLEASE GIVE ME RECOMMENDATIONS) what should I do?

I love the natural look, I think it looks great! Applying a matte primer before your makeup will help absorb oils. Make sure to use it everywhere that you'll be applying makeup. I'm a fan of Bare Minerals Matte Foundation, but if you have an Ulta or a makeup store near you, I'd go in and talk to them and see if they have any recommendations!

I cant help you with the oily skin, but I would suggest playing up your eyes a bit more! You have gorgeous eyes, make them shine! Maybe some liner, possible false lashes if you're comfortable with them. I would also try to define your cheeks a bit more. You're brows look fantastic!

Love the color for your lips! I hope someone else can help you with the oily skin issue! Maybe keep some blotting paper on hand day of? I have no clue on foundations or anything like that for oily skin, sorry!

Thanks! I will have to look into matte primers... I definitely don't need anything that'll make me more dewy.

Good idea on the blotting papers! I think more eyeliner may be good. I don't usually wear much makeup so any makeup feels like so much!

Matte primer, Wet'N'Wild actually makes a really good one, NYX is a good brand too. Covergirl Fit Me! Matte foundation is a godsend, and then WNW and NYX both make good matte setting sprays. Do primer, spray, foundation, powder, and then final spray. Should hold everything in place! And then blotting papers and maybe a little compact of powder that a BM or MOH can keep on hand for touch-ups.

The rest of your makeup looks really pretty and natural. But it's your big day, so play around and see if there's something that could really pop to make you feel special.

I agree with adding some liner or maybe a thin set of false lashes? They can make a huge difference! I would defiently go into Ulta if you have one near buy and ask for a recommendation for a mattifying primer. This can help if you dont want to change your foundation brand/type.

Use a setting powder (I use Mary Kay's translucent loose powder) on top of your makeup to reduce the oiliness!

I'd go a little darker/shinier on your eyeshadow maybe (can't tell if you're wearing any even?) and maybe get some blush or go heavier on it if you're already wearing some, to bring more color to your cheeks.

    You look great though!!

Your skincare routine is more important than any makeup product so I recommend the mario badescu oil control moisturizer. hourglass veil mineral primer and urban decay de-slick oil control setting spray are also a dynamic duo! I use all 3 and after attending someone else's wedding recently my makeup was still the same at midnight!

I would definitely use a matte foundation or primer. I'm going very natural for the wedding as well buttttttt in pictures very minimal makeup looks like no makeup it doesn't hurt to put on a little more but I think you look great. Make sure to bring blotting sheets as well !

You definitely need to set your makeup with a powder or spray. I've heard finishing powders are often better for oily skin than setting sprays, even if they are matte. Good luck! It looks soft and natural so far!

Thanks for all the feedback! I'm taking away that I should try to apply a bit more makeup, particularly around the eyes and look into the different magnifying options, like setting sprays, foundation and primer. This is really helpful. I think I look like I am wearing SO much makeup in this photo, so I appreciate the feedback.

I think natural look is always best, but maybe just try a foundation that would make your skin a little more matte and less shine, you will dance the night away and you want something to stay matte and not shiny Smiley smile

Try a primer for oily skin and also a setting spray at the end. Keep some blotting papers with you or give to someone who you can quickly grab them from. I'm so jealous of your beautiful eyelashes & brows!

Moisturize, matte foundation-I have heard a lot of great reviews about FENTY foundation with those with oily skin.
Be sure to set the foundation with a setting powder. I highly recommend the Too Faced peach powder as it also helps blur any lines.

    I LOVE your eye lashes!
I would personally use a peachy blush with your skin tone and apply it high on your cheek bone.

To help keep your makeup from wearing off throughout your reception I recommend spraying a setting spray. Urban Decay works the best for me.

If you live near a Sephora, you can go in and get a FREE 15 minute makeover where they can show you how to do eyes. You can tell them you want a natural look and they can recommend colors and help you apply it. They also give up to 3 free samples so you can test different matte foundations and see which works best for you or anything else.

You're beautiful , wow your eyes! The natural look is stunning, maybe a matte primer would help you out, as some pp friends have suggested. Some individual lash extensions maybe? Other than that, you did a great job!!

    You look great!! Natural beauty!!

The only thing is you may wash out a little in the photos... that said I ’d maybe enhance your eyes a little bit so they stand out in photos. Liquid eyeliner and some neutral eyeshadows (light towards the inside corner then fade out darker with darker in the crease) to give you a soft look with the liner. Maybe some contour and blush (just use bronzer under your cheekbones, temples and top of forehead). Then blend blend blend!

For oily skin, the Too Faced "Born This Way" and Hourglass "Vanish Stick" Foundations are really good. For powder I use Lancome's "Absolue powder" and it's a lifesaver! I apply powder to my face with a damp beauty sponge and it'll just melt into your foundation and look much more natural than using a brush. Hope this helps!!

Remember the camera washes you out so even if you feel like you’re wearing a lot of makeup, that camera won’t be showing it. It’s ok to go slightly bolder than what you wanted, it’ll look exactly how you want it to in photos.
As an oily faced person I agree you need setting powder and oil blotting tissues.

So pretty! For a good setting powder I used Laura Mercier translucent setting powder and it was great! A little spendy but if you're not going to use it everyday you can get a sample size for less.

I agree with what others have said too about emphasizing your gorgeous eyes. (I LOVE your lip color too!) Maybe a softer eye look in gold or pink tones with a little bit of a darker wing shadow to emphasize the shape of your eyes? That should still look natural.

I'd also recommend some blush high on your cheekbones - you have such a pretty face structure!

I watched a lot of YouTube makeup videos leading up to my wedding. Allie Glines has some great wedding makeup videos and she has more oily skin too, so her recommendations might work well for you.

    Good luck!
