diy invitations for $14

Hannah, on June 9, 2019 at 5:50 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 12
I just want to share how I’m doing my invitations because it took a lot of work to figure out the cheapest way to do high quality DIY invites. For example, my DIY save the dates cost me around $150 to make. These invites cost me $14... FOURTEEN.. dollars. What I did was use the app Canva to create the invitation. Then I uploaded the image to Walmart.com and printed them as 4x6 prints. I chose the 5-8 day delivery because it was cheaper than the 1 hour photo. For 80 prints my total was $7.77. Then I purchased a 25 pack of gold card stock from Michael’s, originally $6 but on sale for $2.50. I cut two 5x7 rectangles for every sheet, and using glue dots ($3.75) I attach the print to the card stock & voila!! I am including RSVP card (which I hand-wrote) and an information card with every invitation as well as a sprig of greenery (which I bought at Michaels 60% of for a total of $4). So I think my over all total for invitations will be closer to the $40 mark. I hope this helps for any other DIY brides who are having trouble finding DIY solutions that actually save you money.

Good idea. I recently made a similar post on how I did my invitations super cheap. My invitations and RSVP cards came up to $25 and I think with envelopes and postage came up to around $40.

It’s nice to get one of those wins in wedding planning and know you didn’t pay a million bucks for something.

Those look awesome! I got my invites for $30 for 100. I found a groupon and changed one of the invites for the engagement party to a wedding invite when you customize and I got my rsvp cards on amazon. No way I was gonna pay the $300 I was quoted. 🤨

Congratulations! We got save the date postcards on Vistaprint for $40 for 100. We ordered our invitations on Shutterfly when they had a 50% sale and it cost $190 for 100. Do you have any design on the back of the card? how is the envelope? Are you doing enclosure cards. It looks good! $14 is impressive. good for you!

Wow that is really clever, the gold really looks great. What is your plan for envelopes? Are you doing other DIYs?

The only other things I’d consider DIY are the menu at the bar and the sign at the front entrance. We are using acrylic paint & picture frames.

I might do this as well. I was already planning on making my invitations at Walmart, but this would be even cheaper and customizable than using their templates. Thanks for the tip!

Nice! The biggest thing that affects the price is the size of the photo you print. That’s why I printed them small and added the gold background to make the invites fit in a 5x7 envelope.
