diy Hairdo Help

We eloped on our original date last year because of Covid and are having our wedding celebration this year. The salon I was using kind of screwed me over so I don't want to use them again. I am considering doing my own hair for my wedding but have a really difficult time getting things to stay and designing in the back of my head where I cannot see.

I have long (armpit to nipple length) blond fine hair that is naturally wavy. I have a lot of hair but its very fine and doesn't have a ton of bulk or volume. The overall aesthetic I want is a do that has movement and is soft and romantic, I like waves and texture and do not want anything super sleek or modern. I was thinking a low side bun with some loose face framing pieces. I have found some tutorials on YouTube but haven't had much luck getting them to stay - they look okay but fall out of my head after a few hours.

I think I need some sort of texturing product and something to help hold my hair in place, but I don't want products that will weigh down my hair or make it stiff and brittle.

Any tips, tricks, links to easy to do hair styles, or products you love? Also any tutorials about installing hair combs, hair vines, or other decorative hair pieces? I have less than 2 months to experiment and figure this out!

Dry shampoo and backcombing add a lot of texture and grip to your hair! with back combing you just have to make sure you have a smooth layer of hair over it. I’ve also heard of some people using salt water in a spritzer to give their hair more texture (like after you’ve spent a day at the beach) I’ve never tried that one though. I'm not sure how adept you are with French braiding your own hair, but the back of head in this picture is mine (The feather/bow thing hides it, but there's a bun under there!):
There's another 'do I had as a bridesmaid for a friend's wedding, but sadly I can't find a picture that really shows what it looks like. It was another low side bun that was super simple to do (we all did our own hair for that one) and stayed in place the whole night. My natural hair is pretty similar to yours, except that it's straight and not wavy.
This one isn't a side bun, and it's definitely more pulled back, but some elements could be taken from it. (Sorry for the crappy photo quality! This is from a dance competition I was in years ago and the lighting in the room was.... not great.):

Dry shampoo or texture spray! I’ve tried both of those from Amika and recommend them. They’ve got some travel sizes/sets if you’re looking to just get a few uses out of them vs big bottles. Good bobby pins make a difference, too. I know you didn’t ask for YT recommendations but just in case you may still be looking for inspo, I love Missy Sue’s hair videos.

Thanks all. I'm not needing "inspo" - I have plenty of ideas of what I want my hair to look like, just struggling to figure out how to do them myself, in the back of my head, without being able to see what I am doing. I am pretty confident I can follow tutorials on YouTube but just don't seem to have much luck doing them on myself and having them stick!

I am experimenting with dry shampoo and texture spray now!
