diy Flowers

So I’m about 90% sure we will end up doing DIY real flower arrangements. I’m currently comparing prices from a few different companies, so I know what to expect to spend. I’m just unsure how much I’ll need to order! We aren’t going to have a wedding party, so we will need my bouquet, FH’s boutonnière, corsages for ours moms, a sweetheart table arrangement, and 14 centerpieces. I’m wanting garden roses, anemones, ranunculus, hydrangeas, succulents, baby’s breath and silver dollar eucalyptus. I’ve attached some pictures that are somewhat similar to the looks I’m going for. So far I have priced 50 stems of anemones and ranunculus, 25 stems of hydrangeas, 36 stems of garden roses, 40 stems of eucalyptus, 36 succulents and 5 bunches of baby’s breath. Does this sound like enough? I’m not worried about having too much, I can always throw a vase on the bar, sign in table, and other various places. I’m just worried I’ll start arranging the day before and run out of flowers!

Anemones are extremely fragile. You'll probably lose some of them, so make sure to order extra.

Schedule a consultation with a Fifty Flowers rep. (You can do it online for free). They'll ask you to email photos of what you want or share a Pinterest board and then they'll build your cart based off of the photos, what you tell them you need (# of arrangements, bouquets, etc.) and your budget. If one flower is too expensive for the budget, they find one that looks similar but costs less. All of this is done while your talking on the phone so you can discuss flowers and actually see what they're talking about on the computer. At the end, they formulate a recipe that will tell you exactly how many of each flower you need for the various arrangements. I'm using this company but even if you find a cheaper place, you'll have the cart and recipe emailed so you know how much and of what to buySmiley smile The girl I spoke with was named Violet. She actually does wedding arrangements where she lives so she was also able to weigh in on what historically looks good together. I 100% recommend this company. It's been painless to work with them.

Flower Moxie has recipes you can access for free that will tell you exactly how many stems you need for each item - this one seems right up your alley: https://flowermoxie.com/pages/moodboard-cream-and-sage. Smiley laugh

Also, since you're comparing vendors, I wanna put in a plug for FlowerFarm.com as a floral vendor. They have the lowest unit prices of any online flower company I saw (like by a lot...the Vendela cream roses I was dying for are 60 cents a stem from Flower Farm and $1 per stem at Sam's). I was nervous since their website doesn't have reviews; but I did a trial run order of spray roses, vendelas, and quicksand roses and they are all TO DIE FOR. It's been nine days and they are still gorgeous.

It all depends on the size of your bouquet and centerpieces. I'm estimating 30 stems of flowers for a large bouquet, and 15 stems per medium centerpiece. If you want to spend more on vases and less on flowers, a trio of bud vases with some candles might only take you 1-2 per bud-vase (~6 per table). Below is a photo of my practice bouquet, 14 stems of flowers (not counting any of the little buds or greenery - 7 roses, 4 lisianthus, 3 stock) to give you a size reference, since you can never see all the way around to count the flowers in photos. These were sizeable roses that bloomed to ~3" across, so if you want to include smaller 'interest' flowers just remember they won't take up as much volume. I felt like this was a bit small but actually like how light this is to carry Smiley smile I think this is the size of your first photo bouquet, and maybe half the size of the second bouquet photo.

This helped so much, thank you! I think I’ll end up ordering small amounts to do a trial bouquet and centerpiece! The thought never even occurred to me! By the way, you did a GREAT job on your practice bouquet! Looks beautiful!
