diy Cheese Board Appetizers

Brittany, on October 7, 2019 at 3:35 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 5

Hey All,

I decided to save money by doing appetizers myself since the caterer doesn't really do what I was envisioning for a fancy cheese board. I'm getting around 8 lbs of 4 difference cheeses, 6 lbs of 3 different charcuterie meats, and then around 25 lbs of fruits, veggies, dips, and other nibbles to fit the corners. I'm anticipating around 85 people, so hopefully that will be enough.

My question is, what size board should I get to fit everything? Home Depot has 2'x4' tiles you can seal to serve food off of I think have a cool marble look, but I don't know if 8 sq feet will be enough space to fit almost 40 lbs of food. Should I do 2 stations of 2'x4' tiles or try to fit everything into one?

Thanks for your help!

I would do two stations! With 85 people having two areas would make it easier on everybody!

We’re going to do our own charcuterie boards too so you just helped me out! I agree with PP, 2 boards is easier for guests and won’t look messy/overstuffed like 1 giant board could.

    Hey there, Brittany!

    This sounds so yum!

I too agree that two boards will be best. That way guests won’t all be trying to eat off the one and can have easier access Smiley smile

Is the caterer going to lay all this out for you, or will you do it yourself?

I had been planning on doing it myself, but maybe if I set everything up the caterer would be willing to put it out for me. I don't think they want to deal with food other than their own, but I might as well ask!

I also was thinking about getting my sister or some of the bridal party to do it about 30-60 minutes before the ceremony since the cheese will need to come room temperature anyway and then I don't have to do it all myself.

The caterer may be willing to help replenish items if it's not actually cooked food and simply removing it from packaging and laying out. It's definitely worth asking Smiley smile

I think it would be a great idea also to ask a family member or someone in the wedding party to help set it up so you can focus on getting ready and it won't take up as much of your time!
