Disposable plates, utensils and cups

We are having a wedding in the mountains and are really contemplating disposable everything for four and drinks. No one wants to do the dishes and we really dont want to spend $500+ to rent. We are having bbq as our food. Thoughts on disposable? We are having 140-160 people at our wedding.

You can get nice, disposable plates/cutlery that will work just fine for barbecue. Chinet makes a fantastic plastic plate that you throw away at the end of your meal. Grease will not leak through plastic, or even heavyweight paper. She shouldn't have to cut any of her vendors for ceramic dishes.

OP, we are using the plastic Chinet plates for barbecue -- they're great! You can get them at Costco or Sam's. We are also using plastic cutlery and of course, plastic bar cups Smiley smile

As long as you don't have anything on the menu that really needs to be cut, you'd be fine with disposable. We used heavy duty plastic white and gold plates, gold cutlery, and even disposable glasses for the bar.

We had BBQ for our wedding 2 weeks ago (pulled pork, smoked turkey, 5 sides, salad, breads, and all 5 signature sauces from a local award winning restaurant), and we ordered our heavy duty plastic plates, cutlery, and wine glasses from the restaurant store (basically the same things as Webstaurant).

Literally no one complained (in fact, the restaurant is so popular people were thrilled to hear they were catering our wedding), no one got food on themselves, the food was not overly greasy and gross or hard to eat at all. The caterers loved the plastic because they were easy to dispose of when they were busing tables, no one had to wash anything and the leftover plates we have we've been using at home here and there for dinner.

Our wedding was semi-formal so we were able to get away with all of this. If we were having a formal wedding I probably would have rented actual tableware.

Disposable dinnerware is a great option.
