Disposable cameras

Future_Mrs_Gordon, on June 5, 2014 at 8:09 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 32

Anyone else doing disposable cameras at your reception? My FH and I were really wanting to do a disposable camera for each table but after looking into it the cost to buy and develop them are pretty costly. They have a Walgreens locally that will develop each camera for $15 a piece at Walmart it will cost $10 per camera but is shipped to California to be developed. Any other alternatives?? Would it be worth it to get maybe two cameras rather then none?? Our wedding is 9 days away.

I thought about it , but everything I saw was just about how the disposable cameras don't work well inside and all of the pictures will come out dark and ruined. You could always do instagram etc and have your guests upload their pictures to that.

I haven't seen them at a wedding since the 90's. Very outdated. People have smart phones and digital cameras now.

My FH is set on doing this. We have several older family members coming and he thinks that the cameras will be used more than instagram.

We are now doing them since FMIL went and bought cameras for each table. I hope she is developing them because I'm not; not when everyone has a camera phone. They will be used withour I Spy game.

Am I the only one who didn't realize you can still buy disposable cameras?

If you really want to do it, you don't have to develop them all at once. That's a big chunk of money. You could make it fun and develop one every month.

I would look at the cameras and just sort of roll my eyes. The idea was great back in the day when people didn't have cameras on their phone. Personally, I wouldn't touch a disposable camera at a wedding.

My best friend used them at her wedding and told me its a waste of money. The pictures came out horribly, she was only developing a few at a time to see how they were and just stopped because she wasn't getting any good shots from them.

I would never use disposable cameras. The whole idea is really 90s to me. Not only that, but most photos turn out grainy, are bad quality, and you end up getting photos of peoples heads cut off, or guy's nut sacks in the bathroom.

    No thanks.

People can get better, higher quality photos off their phones. Set up an instagram account with a hashtag. Much less expensive.

You can set up an account with Wedpics for free.. Most people have cameras on their cell phones. I wouldn't waste my time or money on cameras since they become a novelty that doesn't give good pics, and many people won't use them or will save the photos for those special moments they will miss anyway. Just put up a sign on your tables like we are with wedpics info. It's much less expensive and then you can sort pics before printing not paying for pics you hate, don't want or don't turn out.

I'm with Paris. I didn't realize you could still get disposable cameras. Or film, for that matter!

This idea is very antiquated. It's much easier for most people to just take pics with their smartphones and tag them on Instagram.

They're totally outdated. I wouldn't do them personally. Plus you might end up with a bunch of pictures you don't even like or random pictures of the floor or someone's foot. On a smartphone, you can delete a bad picture. You can't do that with a disposable camera.

Everyone will have an actual camera or a smartphone to take pictures on. And they'll post it on Facebook or whatever. No need for disposable cameras.

Walgreens will stop developing disposable camera film next year (I think). I was there the other day and some guy was getting one developed and the camera guy told us. It's kinda sad, but I haven't used one in forever.

My dad uses them still...but he's a cash, landline, disposable camera kinda guy Smiley smile

Does anyone remember the "King of Queens" episode where Doug took a picture of his manhood with a little top hat on it with a disposable camera at a wedding? I keep telling my FH that's what will happen if we do this. LOL

I thought about doing disposable cameras. I think I would only offer a basket of them and not one at each setting. Then each camera I would only see about getting a CD of the photos to see which ones I want to print out then.

I recommend against it. Highly. You'll get blurry, dark photos... or if there are kids at the wedding, they'll just be shooting random crap. You may end up not even getting all the cameras back. I also think it's outdated.

I'm planning on using the wedpics app rather of disposable cameras, there are instructions on the table for downloading it and then I get all the pictures and can decide which to print! There are lots of these services now
