I'm a huge fan and visit a few times a year. Please feel free to ask me any specific questions. Overall, I would recommend staying on property to take advantage of the complimentary transportation. Also, plan on making your dining reservations well in advance as he most popular restaurants fill up quickly.

Which property would you recommend? Also have you used the magic your way packages as well as the meal plans?

The meal plans give you so much food. It's great. The Polynesian is my favorite property. It's so much fun. I always feel like I'm not good enough to be in the grand Floridian. I've heard great things about their honeymoons. I always wanted to do that.

Concerning resorts, what is your budget per night? The resorts range from very affordable to very expensive.

We're going to Disneyland and have been told if you get the "just married" buttons they will go out of your way to help you and upgrade you. Also, I echo making reservations in advance as restaurants book up fast during peek season.

We Plan on staying out there for 5 to 6 nights , we set aside about 5,000 for our entire honeymoon but we would prefer to be under. We would prefer under 600 per night.

I ran a rough estimate of costs for December 2015. For five nights, park tickets, and a dining plan it is a little over $5,000 for a Deluxe category resort (Polynesian, Grand Floridian, etc.) You can expect prices to be slightly higher for the 2016 year. I would suggest trying one of the Moderate category resorts (Coronado Springs or Caribbean Beach) to give you a little more flexibility with your budget.

    Check out http://www.mousesavers.com/historical-information-on-walt-disney-world-resort-discounts/

This will give you an idea of what promotions might be offered when you go next year. You can always book in advance and then call if/when the promotion starts and they will give you the discount. We got an upgraded room and saved $700 on a free dining plan promotion! Make your dining reservations 6 months in advance (check out Disney food blog for suggestions) and try to coordinate your dining location with the night show you want to see that night.

If you have the budget I would definitely suggest one of the deluxe hotels. Boardwalk and Beach Club are my favorite. Old Key West is very spread out but the rooms are huge! Also look at the meal plans and do your research. If you aren't going to eat all the food that is included, it really doesn't save you money because you are paying rack rates for the rooms and they run discounts very frequently. Make dining reservations ASAP as they open 6 months in advance. And buy your tickets online and set up a My Disnet Experience account so you can book fast pass reservations online. If you are staying on property they open 60 days prior to the first day of your stay. Also our weather in Florida is perfect in that time of the year!

I second Old Key West! Its one of my favorites. Last time we went, we stayed in a condo with a kitchenette and was able to cook some meals in the room rather than eat out every day

My family owns two dvc memberships so you go quite a bit. If you want to stay in a deluxe resort, look into renting dvc points! It's cheaper than actually paying for a hotel. The grand Floridian is a great honeymoon hotel, it has less kids and is very fancy lol. It also has great splurge restaurants. If you are looking to go in December. I would start looking at restaurants to book now. Because your 180 days is coming up soon! My fiancé and I got engaged in 2013 there around the same time you are going and it is an amazing time! We also just got back from a Disney vacation and cruise in May. Add me and PM me if you have any questions!

Similar to Kasey, I am a bit of (ok, huge) Disney nerd, and visit often. Feel free to PM me if you want to discuss!

One of the great things about WDW is that if you want to split your stay between more than one resort, they will take care of everything for you. So, say you wanted to splurge on one of the Deluxe rooms for a night or two, when you check out of your room at the moderate or value resort, Disney will move your bags to your new resort for you. So, you can get up in the morning, check out of the hotel, go to the park for the day, then return from the park to your new hotel and check in there seamlessly. For a deluxe property, I recommend Kidani Village at the Animal Kingdom Lodge... views of the African Savannah animals right from your room!). Coronado is beautiful for a moderate, but it doesn't have that "Disney Magic" feel. I would recommend Port Orleans (either one) or even Pop Century (highly underrated) over Coronado.

Really, it depends on your vacation style. Are you active? Do you like to be at the parks when they open, or are you a "lay by the pool and have a cocktail" vacationer?

Personally, I think that the meal plan is kind of a waste of money. It's a perceived value that you're getting a lot more for less. But, really, you're not, because you wouldn't necessarily eat as much as the dining plan provides. Most people do not eat the amount of food that the dining plan offers, and you still end up spending for things like alcohol, sodas and coffees at the park (only drink refills at the resorts are allowed) and appetizers.

H and I go to WDW every year since we are DVC members. We've stayed at 8 of the Disney owned resorts and are aiming to stay at all of them. For his grooms gift, I actually extended our honeymoon so we could go to Disney after Mexico.

You're going during a pricy time of year; however, you have a healthy budget, so that's good.

Naturally, we're mostly all going to say Grand Floridian or Polynesian, well, because those are awesome. They are two of the most expensive resorts though, so after all is said and done, you'll end up spending more than you want to spend.

For choosing a resort, know what you want. Do you want a decent pool, activities, close to a park?

Animal Kingdom is a great resort (Jambo, not Kindani). It has the Savannah rooms where you can see that animals roam and they offer night time safari rides just for their resort guests. It's close to AK, has a great pool and some really awesome restaurants. The biggest downside is that you're kind of far from all of the other parks.

The Beach Club is where we stayed on our honeymoon and we loved it. The location honestly cannot be beat since you can walk to Epcot, HS and the boardwalk. The pool there is great and they have nightly movies on their beach. You can also walk over to Jellyrolls for their dueling pianos and cocktails.

Saratoga Springs will be a little bit cheaper than the other two. This resort is very spread out, so you get a more relaxed feel. There's one main pool and smaller pools scattered throughout, so you're never too far way from one. They are very close to Downtown Disney, which is great for shopping, restaurants and nightlife.

The Contemporary is also a great resort. The location is great as you can walk to MK. Their pool is my least favorite since it's on the smaller side, but you do have a beach area there. They also have jet ski rentals, parasailing and wake boarding. Bay Lake Tower is connected to Contemporary, so you can walk over to their rooftop lounge and watch the MK fireworks from there- and they even pipe in the music too. It's pretty cool.

Wear your Just Married pin around the parks and resorts because you never know what it may bring. We've gotten free champagne, free desserts and a few phone calls from Mickey and Minnie.

Make sure you book your dining reservations at your 180 days. Restaurants fill up quickly.

My favorite sites for planning are allears.net, disneyfoodblog.com and trip advisor. Let me know if you have any questions!

We are going to Disney in January for our honeymoon! we are staying at Port Orleans French Quarter. I have stayed at port Orleans riverside before and loved it but we wanted somewhere that neither of us has stayed before. French quarter has horse carriages and a boat that takes you to downtown Disney so that you do not always have to take the bus! DEFINITELY recommend the dining plan though.

My FH and I went last September, and stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside. It was my first trip to Disney so I can't compare to the other hotels- but we loved it! Pricing wasn't too bad, since it was a moderate. I think on our next trip we'll probably splurge for one of the Deluxe resorts. Definitely wear your :just married" pins! We wore our "just engaged" pins and got a few perks and all the cast members are super nice and say congratulations Smiley smile

ETA: we did the meal plan, it was convenient but WAY more food than we were used to eating.
