There are a few shops on Etsy that already offer this service.

We had a cute little celebration/reception party when we returned and I used picnick to create table numbers, menus, and other cute little paper creations for the celebration. Our reason for doing this was mostly because wedding planning seemed like it was going to take forever and a lot of money.

Anyway, I looked at visata print and I hated their templates-- they don't look anything like the really cute stationery that's popular these days.

@Kimberly Yeah, which is what gave me the idea. Instead of having to wait to place an order and message designers on etsy. This would be an actual tool- like an editor to create and print.

Think I should spend time on this?

Sounds a lot like Vista Print or Cards and Pockets...or any other custom stationary company.

Also, maybe you haven't heard, but Picnic announced that it is closing...you'd have until April

Thanks for your feedback. Yep, I'm aware that picnik is closing. My ideas was to create a picnik like tool for wedding stationery-- where you can print as well. Vista print and the others are nothing like picnik... IMO

And IMO No I wouldnt use the tool you're talking about and would rather order from a website like Vista Print.

I would also keep in mind copyright laws. Will you personally be creating all these professional graphics? From reading your posts it sounds more like your issue with other sights is just the graphics/designs. If you have the skills and the money to develop the software I am sure there is a market for it, but you need to demonstrate how it would be different.

@Carrie good point about the copyright laws. was thinking i'd design some myself and commission a few graphics designers to as well, to build up a large collection of graphic elements. I agree, i'd really have to position the tool as a better alternative to Vista print and similar services.

If you have the skills, I say go for it! www.downloadandprint.com is essentially the same thing! This gal designs all the cards and lets you edit them with some kind of flash software (I think) and then you print them and cut/fold. You can use all of the fonts from your own computer, as long as it's downloaded on your computer.. I forget if it allowed you to add graphics, I want to say it did.. but when you print, it has all the measurements for you to cut them out the right size and her designs usually had two invites to a sheet or one whole set of invite+RSVP+reception card on one sheet so you wouldn't waste paper.. I wouldn't know the first thing about creating this kind of tool, but I do know I loved her site and had I not been so lazy, I would have invested in it.

And Ive gotten that same vibe on a different post.

I like the idea of having someone else coming up with a template of what I want and just emailing it to me and all I have to do is press print. Like I want the Boarding Passes for my wedding but I don't want to go through the hassle of figuring out how to get them to look how I want them to look to be able to print them and what templates to use so I have found someone on Etsy to do it for me. It isn't cheap though and I could have someone just email me everything that I want so all I have to do is print, that would be great.
