Will You Keep Your Wedding Dress Or Sell It Once The Wedding Is Over?

Crystal and Allen, on July 19, 2011 at 12:13 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 59

I have come across so many websites that are selling used wedding dresses. I have also seen many posts where future brides are looking to purchase particular wedding dresses, stating that they love the dress but can't afford to buy it brand new... my dress, in particular (from DB) just happens to be one of those dresses! Would you consider selling your wedding dress, or will you keep it?

I would definitely sell it but I'm actually giving it away to charity. I highly doubt my daughter will want to wear it lol. If she loves the style so much, they'll be plenty of pictures for her to go have it replicated. Chopping it up for Christening gowns or w/e just seems like a waste when there's another bride out there who could make good use of it.

Personally, I don't see the point in keeping it. But that's JMO.

Burning it... drowning it... dropping it 40k feet from an airplane... yeah, I don't care where it goes... I just want it to GO! haha... it takes up a boatload of space and plus, I'll have pics of it to cherish.

Against my mothers, FMIL, sister & grandmothers wishes... I fully intend on doing trash the dress photos. Hopefully during our honeymoon in alaska. Since I don't plan on rolling around in mudd or doing anything that would seriously damage the dress- I plan on getting it dry cleaned and then stored away.

Depending on how i feel that day is whether or not i will keep it. Im not a person that keeps many memories. I dont like anything to be cluttered, but i think i may want to keep this just as a memory. Im sure i will try it on again after my wedding day. But thats just me lol

I don't know.... I want to do trash the dress photos KIND OF but I am squeamish about the idea of doing that with something I spent so much money on lol. But I love the pictures, and live in Florida so beaches are easy to come by, and I really like the ones where they're covered in paint too... I don't know... And it will be hard with me to part with it because I love it so much but it will be useless boxed up in my closet so if I don't do TTD, I will sell it.

Guess I'll talk to FH and see what he thinks.

    Thanks Kimi :-)

There are several different companies that take donated wedding dresses including:

http://bridesagainstbreastcancer.org/ - Brides Against Breast Cancer

http://www.bridesacrossamerica.com/ - Brides Across America (for military brides, where I will be donating my dress)

And there's always your local Goodwill or church organization :-)

Analy has some pretty cool TTD photos, and if I remember right she didn't actually "trash" anything. Just the illusion of it.

I am planning on selling mine too! I don't see the point in keeping it. I kept my prom dresses and now I look back and wonder why? They are just taking up valuable closet space. Visit: kerihamiltonphotography.com to see some trash the dress pictures.

Since I'm having mine custom made, I think I will keep it. For what, I don't know, lol. We'll see...maybe I'll change my mind later.

My dress was only $199, so I'm going to do a TTD session - probably to the extreme of trashing it to the point of no return - and maybe even literally trash it.

I honestly never thought about it... I will never wear it again, but right now I still have all my prom dresses AND bridesmaid dresses. None of which fit (most are too big, with the exception of prom, waaay to small). I guess I'm a pack rat. I'll have it cleaned and maybe after everything I may try to sell it, depending on how I feel. I should really get rid of all the other dresses though for sure.
